  • Comes after a person was hit by a train shortly after 1pm on Wednesday
  • Metro Trains warns commuters to expect delays, replacement buses ordered

Commuters face lengthy delays after a person was hit by a train in Melbourne.

Buses will replace trains between Camberwell and Alamein on the Alamein line in the city’s east following the incident shortly after 1pm on Wednesday due to a ‘police request’.

‘Buses ordered, will take over 60 mins to arrive,’ Metro Trains tweeted.

‘Allow extra travel time and consider local transport options. Check information displays and listen for announcements.’  

‘We sincerely apologise for the disruption and thank passengers for their patience.’

It’s not known at this stage when normal services will resume, which could throw the peak afternoon commute home into chaos for thousands of Melburnians. 

Ambulance Victoria redirected inquiries about the incident to police.
