Paulita said: ‘It’s a Halo Top equivalent for much less.’

Another consumer – who scored the new ice cream range eight-and-a-half out of 10 – said she was pleasantly surprise when she got to taste it.

‘I’ve been waiting very patiently for Aldi to finally bring their own brand of low cal ice cream to Australian shores, and was overjoyed to discover these and of course nab the first two tubs off the shelf,’ she said.

‘Honestly, I was quite surprised. This is good. Like, really good! The ice cream is super creamy, and tastes like”real” ice cream.’

The classic dessert, which consists of layers of melted chocolate and blended with vanilla ice cream – was a popular treat among Australian families in the 80s and 90s.

‘That fancy dessert you remember from your childhood is back,’ the retailer said.
