Aldi will drop a luxury range of designer-inspired bouclé furniture this month – and prices start at $60.

Characterised by its fuzzy, curly, soft-appearance, bouclé upholstery is the latest ‘must-have’ in interior design.

Designer brands often flog furniture made with the looped yarn material for thousands of dollars, but Aldi is currently selling dog beds, a swivel chair, ottoman and bed head for less than $200.

The coveted Special Buys range will be available in store from Wednesday 15 March.

Shoppers cannot wait to get their hands on the budget buys.

‘What an amazing catalogue! I pray that most things advertised will be in-store. My fingers are crossed,’ one mum said.

‘The white chair would be so cute in my beauty room,’ another wrote.

What is bouclé fabric and why is it popular?

Bouclé is made from a curly yarn, the name of the fabric comes from the French word meaning curled.

It has been a staple of high fashion couture houses such as Chanel for decades.

It is well-known for it’s comfort and was originally created when interior expert Florence Knoll requested a chair she could ‘really curl up in’.

The fabric has a range of benefits. It is heavy and can absorb sound but soft enough to use as a comfortable cover for a pillow.
