Aldinga Beach fire: Adelaide mum Krystal Marshall killed in a horror house fire

A woman who tragically died in a horror house fire has been named as a mother-of-two as harrowing new details emerge.

Firefighters were called to a home in Aldinga Beach, south of Adelaide on Friday after neighbours spotted black smoke billowing the the home.

Krystal Marshall, 38, was unable to escape with firefighters finding her body in her bedroom after the blaze was extinguished.

She lived there with her ex-wife Anastasia, and their two children, along with a friend.

Two dogs and a cat were rescued from the burning home by neighbours, who didn’t realise Ms Marshall was also inside.

Her ex-partner was inconsolable when she returned to the gutted home on Saturday to salvage whatever possessions she could.

‘The kids were at school. I went to pick up my youngest from school and I saw smoke coming out of the house when I was walking up the street,’ Ms Marshall told reporters.

‘We weren’t together for a couple of years but we never got divorced. We were together for 11 years.’

Next door neighbour Jason Freer was at home at the time when he heard an unusual crackling noise.

‘I thought it was raining at first, so I walked outside and noticed all this smoke, there was fire coming from the neighbours’ roof,’ Mr Freer said.

‘I didnt know she was inside. It’s not nice living next door to someone who’s died.’ 

The cause of the blaze has not yet been deternimed but isn’t being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.’
