Alec Baldwin’s brother says he is desperate to work away from ‘war zone’ at home

Alec Baldwin’s brother has joked that the star is keen to work away from home so he can escape the ‘war zone’ of domestic life with wife Hilaria and their seven children.

William and Alec star together in the family film Billie’s Magic World which was recorded last spring in Italy.

He said that as soon as filming wrapped the 65-year-old had asked when the duo would be heading back out on another project again.

Speaking at the Taormina Film Fest, William, 60, added that his brother ‘would be back soon’ because he needs ‘to make money to pay for all his seven kids.’

William said that the latest film was the first that he and Alec had worked on together.

‘I did 30 Rock with him a couple of times, but I’ve never done a film. So, it’s first time we’ll be on screen together.

‘It was a lot of fun. We made two films not just one, Billie’s Magic World and Kid Santa. He had a blast.

‘As soon as he left, [Alec] was like, “Call [director] Francesco [Cinquemani], to ask when am I coming back.”

‘That’s because he loves Francesco but also probably because while we were here, he found that his wife was pregnant with their seventh child.

‘So, he either needs to come here to get out of that war zone, or he needs to come here to make money to pay for all his seven kids… You can do the math… he’ll be back soon.’

In the film, Alec is the evil Lord Domino and William is his child-snatching side-kick. The films are a combination of live-action and animation.

Actor Johnny Depp, who has suffered a fall from grace perhaps comparable to Alec’s own, provides the voice of the child heroine’s toy puffin.

Last week, Alec’s second wife Hilaria wished him a happy 11th wedding anniversary – and hinted that she plans to add to their already large family.

Hilaria, 39, wrote on Instagram: ‘Happy 11th anniversary, Jack,’ referencing Alec’s character’s name in the sitcom. ‘Pre kids I would visit you on 30 rock and prank you with that hidden cupboard behind.

‘You had no pants… then we had 7 kids. Well here is to 11 more… years… maybe kids too… definitely cats.’ Baldwin commented: ’18 kids? 18? That’s not a baseball team. That’s a baseball game!!!’

Alec also has daughter Ireland from his first marriage to actress Kim Basinger.

In an interview in June with the magazine Romper, she said: ‘Every single time I have a baby, my OB writes down the vasectomy doctor on a Post-it, and I bring it home to Alec. He hasn’t done it yet.

‘Giving birth is like going down a water slide that’s really scary. And then you get to the bottom, and you’re like, “I want to do this again.”‘

Their oldest, Carmen was born in 2013, followed by Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, and Eduardo, born in September 2020. Maria Lucia arrived via a surrogate six months before their youngest child, Ilaria, was born in September 2022.

In 2020 it emerged that Hilaria was born Hilary and raised in Boston by American parents, having apparently played up her ‘Spanish heritage.’

She said on social media that she had a ‘true sense of belonging’ to both American and Spanish cultures.

She went on: ‘The way I’ve spoken about myself and my deep connection to two cultures could have been better explained. I should have been more clear and I’m sorry.’

Comedian Amy Schumer said in June: ‘They have a von Trapp amount of children, and they named them all – I’m not sure, but very Spanish names like Jamón, Croqueta and Flamenco.

‘And all of this would be fine and beautiful, except that “Hilaria from España” is actually Hillary from Boston. This woman is in no way Spanish.

‘Her parents are not from Spain. No one in her life is from Spain. You’re going, “What?!” Did you think I was just doing a really racist Spanish impression?’

The films in Italy were Alec’s second time in front of the camera following the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust in October 2021.

He made the airplane hostage film 97 minutes in the UK in February 2022. That is released this month.

William told the Taormina film festival: ‘It was very light-hearted, loving, positive. We were laughing all the time. It’s good to have that positive energy.’

All criminal charges against him over the fatal shooting have been dropped.

Prosecutors said that they would continue to investigate and that charges could be re-filed.

There are still at least five ongoing civil charges against Alec Baldwin and the producers of Rust.
