Alejandro Garnacho has risked the wrath of Erik ten Hag by controversially liking an Instagram post.
Garnacho liked a post from Fabrizio Romano detailing Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent criticism of United manager ten Hag.
Although Garnacho has since unliked the post, many fans were quick to notice his activity.
Ronaldo’s second spell at United came to an end in 2022 following a disagreement with ten Hag.
The Portuguese star reflected on his departure in an interview with Rio Ferdinand.

Ronaldo was heavily critical of what he viewed as a lack of ambition shown by ten Hag.
In the post liked by Garnacho, Ronaldo’s comments read: ‘Man United coach can NOT say they can’t compete to win the Premier League and the Champions League every year.
‘This is Man United! You have to be there, to mentally say… listen, maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try. You have to try.
‘This is why Man United need to rebuild.’

Ronaldo went on to suggest that ten Hag should take advice from his assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy about United’s values.
Ronaldo said: ‘If ten Hag listens to Ruud van Nistelrooy… maybe he can help. He knows the club and the club should listen to the guys who were there, as this is really important.
‘Rio Ferdinand, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Sir Alex Ferguson… you need advice from these people.
‘You cannot rebuild a club without knowledge.’
Ronaldo and Garnacho were team-mates at United and featured in six games together in 2022.
20-year-old Garnacho has played in all three of United’s Premier League games so far this season. He provided an assist against Fulham in the opening match of the campaign and also featured as a substitute against Brighton before starting in the loss to Liverpool.
The Argentina international is highly regarded by ten Hag, but some fans have suggested that he could now be dropped for liking the post.
Some fans have predicted that ten Hag could drop Garnacho for the game v Southampton
Renowned United YouTuber Mark Goldbridge wrote: ‘Garnacho definitely on the bench at the weekend then for liking that Ronaldo post lol’.
Meanwhile, another fan wrote: ‘now Garnacho is gonna be out of the squad until he apologises the bald fraud.’
A Chelsea fan suggested that Garnacho could now be frozen out by ten Hag. He wrote: ‘Watch Ten Hag freeze out Garnacho now . Swap deal Garnacho for Mudryk in Jan I’ll be there’.
The controversy regarding Garnacho’s liked post could cause further frustration for ten Hag, whose side went into the international break off the back of defeats to Brighton and Liverpool.
United return to action on Saturday when they face Southampton away.
