As she graced the green carpet before the ceremony kicked off, Alicia posed for selfies with fans and signed autographs.

Speaking about her award, Alicia said on the carpet: ‘Zurich Film Festival is the most prestigious and biggest festivals in Europe. So the fact that I get to receive this award is extremely humbling’.

It comes after Alicia spoke with Nick Grimshaw, in for Lauren Laverne, about her historical drama film Firebrand.

Firebrand tells the story of Katherine Parr (Alicia) the sixth and final wife of Henry VIII (Jude Law).

Firebrand premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023 and hit UK cinemas on September 6.

Alicia told Nick, 40, of what attracted her to the film: ‘I think one of the big draws was actually getting to work with Karim Ainouz, the director.

‘I’d seen his films and he’s kind of a very big and loud Latin man and that is what is films kind of are, too.

‘And knowing that this Brazilian director was going to take on this very known British story and costume drama made me be very interested to know what that mix would be.

‘Jude Law was already attached to play Henry – that was another huge draw for me. He’s incredible in the film. And, I knew that it was going to be a pretty remarkable transformation.

‘So, that, alongside the fact that when I actually read the script, I almost felt a tiny bit embarrassed that I didn’t know much about this woman.

‘We’ve been fed a lot about this era and this time and this story about Henry, and the story about his wives, and then this woman who actually ended up coming out on the other side, surviving the whole thing, I knew probably the least about.’

Firebrand was written by sisters Henrietta Ashworth and Jessica Ashworth and is based on the 2013 biography Queen’s Gambit by Elizabeth Fremantle.
