Alison Brahe on what she regrets teaching her daughter

She’s the former 1990s model turned doting mother of three.

And former model Alison Brahe, wife of Cameron Daddo, has opened up about her own mistakes when parenting, advising mums-to-be to ‘adjust your self worth’ before having kids.

In a column for Kidspot this week, the 48-year-old revealed she regretted not owning her beauty more often and participating in negative body talk about herself.

‘She didnʼt believe it because I didnʼt see it in myself’: former model Alison Brahe, wife of married to Cameron Daddo, has revealed the one thing regrets teaching their two daughters

She explained that it was because she did not want to be seen as egotistical to other female friends.

‘So instead I put myself down. I made jokes about how I looked and waved away any compliments with a sarcastic mean joke about myself,’ she said.

The mother-of-three then went on to focus the conversation on her own daughters, Lotus, 21, and Bodhi, 11 and how her bad habits affected their perception of themselves.

‘It didnʼt matter how many times we told our daughter she was perfect as she was, that she was smart and kind and yes beautiful. She didnʼt believe it because I didnʼt see it in myself,’ she added.

Alison advised parents-to-be to follow the same rules followed on airplanes about using oxygen masks.

Children know what you are feeling and when you don’t value or love your self even if you don’t say anything, she argued.

‘Adjust your self worth before having children,’ she said.

Earlier in the year, her husband Cameron spoke candidly about his 25-year marriage to Alison.

‘Even during the most difficult times in our marriage, we both stayed and answered the questions,’ Cameron told Mamamia.

The couple now live in Australia with the wife and kids, Cameron is busy as the host of his nightly Smooth FM radio show, Mellow Music.
