Jadon Sancho looked delighted to be back training with his former team-mates at Borussia Dortmund after rejoining the Bundesliga giants on loan from Manchester United.

Sancho was pictured taking part in his first team training session on Thursday evening after arriving back in Germany on Wednesday afternoon to complete his medical.

Sancho couldn’t help but smile while being put through his paces by Dortmund manager Edin Terzic ahead of their next Bundesliga fixture against SV Darmstadt 98 on Saturday afternoon.

The 23-year-old England international appeared to be soaking up every second of the session – joking and laughing his way through possession-based drills, shooting drills and fitness drills.

Sancho will be looking to help Dortmund turn their season around as they are currently sitting fifth in the league standings – having won seven, drawn six and lost three matches.

Manchester United and Dortmund had been locked in talks for over a week before a deal was struck between the two clubs over Sancho’s temporary move to German outfit.

United will receive a £3million loan fee plus up to £3.4m in bonuses based on the number of appearances Sancho makes and Dortmund’s qualification for the Champions League.

Dortmund will pay the majority of Sancho’s £290,000-a-week wages, although the Red Devils have agreed to contribute £100,000 to get the winger off the books at Old Trafford.

However, there is no option for the Bundesliga giants to re-sign the England international permanently in the summer, having sold the 23-year-old to United in a £73m deal in 2021.

Nevertheless, Sancho is delighted with the move as it will bring an end to a four-and-a-half month spell on the sidelines – having made his last appearance for United in late August following a public fall-out with manager Erik ten Hag.

The winger’s refusal to apologise for his part in the feud has led to him training and eating alone at United’s training base, Carrington. He’s been separated from the rest of the first-team group and fallen further down the pecking order.

Speaking about his return to Dortmund, Sancho said: ‘When I came into the dressing-room today, it felt like coming home. I know the club inside and out, I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge.

‘I can’t wait to see my team-mates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League.’

Meanwhile, United confirmed the news on their official social media accounts by writing: ‘Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho has rejoined former club Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season.
