Allan Saint-Maximin casts doubt on his Newcastle future in cryptic Instagram post as winger reveals he is at a ‘turning point’ in his career after ‘one of the most difficult years’, insisting ‘I will give everything until the end’

Allan Saint-Maximin has revealed he is at a ‘turning point’ in his career, casting doubt on his future with Newcastle.

The 26-year-old winger uploaded a gushing post on Instagram on Monday night in which he reflected on ‘one of the most difficult years’ of his life.

As well as hinting at difficulties with bereavment off the pitch, Saint-Maximin has suggested he is approaching the end at Newcastle United.

‘This year has been one of the most difficult years emotionally, you are not able to know that as I keep personal things for myself, but I lost some really important people, and that is nothing compared to all the things that happened in my life this year, but I always tried to be present on the pitch and give everything. I am so proud of the team and that we achieved the CL [Champions League],’ he wrote.

‘I am now entering a turning point in my career and I will give everything until the end to achieve my dreams.’

He added: ‘It’s often said that human beings forget quickly, but I won’t be able to forget everyone that loves me for who I am and believes in me in difficult moments. It’s in these hard situations that we see the real supporters.

‘Thanks to everyone for the support, whatever happens, I will always give everything when I have the chance to step onto the pitch. Thanks God for everything.’

Mail Sport revealed in April that Inter Milan are keen on signing Saint-Maximin during the summer transfer window.

Inter scouts were left impressed with the Frenchman after he starred against Manchester United at St James’ Park.

Despite his flair, Saint-Maximin has not always been the first name on Eddie Howe’s team sheet with the manager wanting a higher work-rate from his players.

Newcastle’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League will make them an even more attractive proposition for players this summer.

But boss Eddie Howe is eager to trust the process and build up his squad gradually.

Howe definitely wants to strengthen and has an eye on potential recruits such as Harvey Barnes of Leicester, United’s Scott McTominay, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.

Also, Newcastle are stepping up efforts to find younger talent too this summer as they build from the back.
