Amanda Holden has addressed a wild rumour about how her ex-husband Les Dennis allegedly coped during their divorce.

The TV presenter, now 54, said she hates to bring it up, but admits that the rumour was ‘hilarious’.

Amanda and Les were previously married from 1995 until 2003 following her high-profile affair with Neil Morrissey.

While that relationship was short-lived, Amanda went on to find lasting love with Chris Hughes, who she married in 2008.

She told the Tea at Four podcast: ‘I hate to bring it up, but when I was going through a divorce, my friend Jane Wall, who is a mixed-race actress, was living in my house.

‘We were helping her, she was living there basically so she could save up for a mortgage and, it [the newspaper article] said, my then-husband was being “comforted by Diana Ross”. So that was hilarious.’

Les himself also addressed the rumour, describing it as ‘particularly ridiculous’ in a 2004 interview with the Independent.

The affair also seems far-fetched given that the iconic singer has lived in America her entire life.

Les, now 71, said: ‘Well, there’ve been a few, but there was one instance that was particularly ridiculous.’

He explained that Jane Wall, an actress known for her roles in shows such as The Bill, had been living in his home at the time of his divorce from Amanda.

Les said: ‘When she left, these two journalists chased her down the street in a car.

‘The next day, the headline said that I was being comforted by pop diva Diana Ross.’

In the Tea at Four podcast, Amanda also opened up about the difficulty of repairing trust in a relationship once it’s been broken.

She said: ‘If the trust’s been broken, you have to repair the trust, and that can be tough.’

The interview comes as Amanda, who initially rose to fame as an actress, fronts a new Netflix show about cheating, Cheat: Unfinished Business.

It brings together couples whose relationships ended with cheating – sometimes years later – to see if any of the romances can be revived.

Amanda said: ‘When I was asked if I would host a relationship show on Netflix, I just thought, “surely I’ve reached the top of Everest now'”

‘Because this is all I’ve ever wanted. Because Netflix seems so out of our reach as British people, and slowly us Brits are trickling in.’

Cheat: Unfinished Business is available to stream on Netflix now.
