Amazon delivers advent calendar with chocolates half eaten

A mother was horrified after she ordered an advent calendar for her daughter from Amazon – only to have it arrive with half the chocolates eaten.

The unnamed customer, from Hertfordshire, was shocked to open the package and discover the Kinder calendars had been pillaged.

She complained to Amazon on social media, telling the company: ‘Wow. Thanks for my box of half-eaten chocolates. Seriously, I think you have a staff issue.’

Amazon replied by saying: ‘Oh no. That’s not right. We’d like to investigate this more and review all available options with you.

In order for us to do so, please contact us via phone or chat. Let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.’

Replying to that comment, the mother wrote that she had already done so, and added: ‘The chat assistant was sorry and spent more time addressing the refund.

‘I think you miss the point. A member of your staff has ripped open my parcel and eaten half the contents.’

She was able to have a joke despite the regretful situation, later replying to a social media comment by saying: ‘Only I could be lucky enough to buy pre-eaten chocolates. These are the diet version.’

A spokesman for Amazon said today they had fully refunded the customer but declined to comment further.

Another mother complained to them last month after she received Christmas presents for her children with a penis drawn on the packaging.

Pam Kester’s delivery of lamps to her Portsmouth home featured a hand-drawn phallus in red ink.

It was also reported that Amazon were accused of ruining Christmas by sending out gifts in their original packaging.

Some children had their Christmas morning surprise ruined when the saw the presents arriving and their parents flooded the popular site with complaints.

They got further criticism for ‘killing Christmas’ when an advert showed a parent hiding Amazon boxes from his children, implying that Santa isn’t real.
