Amber Davies and Pete Wicks ‘have NEVER dated’

They have found themselves at the centre of speculation they are now dating. 

But it seems Amber Davies’ relationship with TOWIE star Pete Wicks is purely platonic, as sources have claimed the pair are ‘nothing more than friends’. 

Fans have been quick to question their relationship, after the duo were seen getting close at the National Television Awards on Tuesday night, but it seems a romance between them has been ruled out by an insider close to the Love Island star.

Following Amber’s split with ex-boyfriend Kem Cetinay, she appears to have struck up a close bond with Essex-native Pete and not only have the duo been spotted enjoying several outings together, they have been cosying up together in a slew of social media snaps. 

However, speaking to MailOnline, a source has claimed that the pair aren’t embarking on a romance, contrary to reports. They insisted: ‘They are not [dating] and have never dated. They’re nothing more than mates.’ 

The claims come after reports alleged Amber and Pete have been ‘secretly dating for over a month’ – something which the TOWIE star made sure to hit back at on Twitter.

According to The Sun, it had been said the pair have ‘a lot of chemistry’ and have been spending plenty of time together in recent weeks. An insider told the publication: ‘Pete and Amber have been talking, and meeting up since December… sometimes if they’re both out with friends, they’ll message each other and arrange to meet.’

Despite seeming to hit it off with Amber, a source close to Pete added that he is ‘reluctant’ to get into another relationship, following his turbulent on/off romance with Megan McKenna. 

The duo had dated for more than a year, but their relationship was plagued with ‘cheating’ claims and splits, before they finally called time on their romance for good in October. 

Pete, however, has appeared to shut down rumours of himself and Amber being romantically linked in a tweet that hit out at claims of ‘secret dates’, with the star branding them a ‘joke’ and adding a slew of crying with laughter emojis in his post.

Amber, meanwhile, had been dating her ex-boyfriend and fellow Love Island star Kem Cetinay. They went on to win the third series of the ITV2 dating show, after falling for each other on the show, but five months after championing over their co-stars, they confirmed their split.

Confirming the split in a statement to MailOnline, they said: ‘With sadness, we’ve decided to separate. We fell in love in the villa and want to thank all the fans of the show for supporting us.’

It was later claimed Amber had called the relationship off as she felt things were ‘moving too fast’ – with the pair openly discussing the prospect of marriage and children in the future, in a number of interviews. 

While she had since said she won’t rule out a reunion with Kem, her ex-beau has insisted he is ‘happy being single’. 

Speaking to MailOnline, the reality star insisted he and Amber won’t be getting back together. He said: ‘If I’m brutally honest, I’m pretty happy where I am at the moment.

Since then, Amber has found herself romantically linked to Pete – with the pair keeping fans guessing over the nature of their new found friendship, after putting on a flirty display at this year’s NTAs. 

They were pictured getting close in the smoking area, with Pete wrapping his arm around Amber and she placing a hand on his chest. They appeared to be inseparable throughout the evening, but have always maintained that they are simply pals and not involved in a romance. 

A source previously told MailOnline that Amber isn’t looking for love, as she is still very much dealing with her heartache following her split from Kem. 

‘The last thing she’s looking for is a relationship at the moment. She’s still very much trying to get over Kem,’ it was claimed. 

A representative for Pete had added at the time: ‘They are 100 per cent not an item.’
