Amber Heard’s Yorkshire Terrier Boo has ‘gone missing’ says TV presenter

A TV presenter has hinted at a conspiracy theory regarding the whereabouts of one of Amber Heard’s dogs after suggesting her Yorkshire Terrier Boo has gone ‘missing’.

Cooper Lawrence spoke to Sunrise on Thursday about Heard’s infamous visit to Australia in 2015 when she broke biosecurity laws by failing to declare her dogs Pistol and Boo upon her arrival in the country with then-husband Johnny Depp.

The actress, 36, is now is now the subject of an ongoing perjury investigation related to 2016 court proceedings stemming from that ill-fated trip Down Under.

In the latest bizarre twist, Lawrence has suggested Heard no longer has Boo because the pet has not been pictured on her Instagram since 2020.

‘She got custody of Pistol and Boo [after splitting from Depp] and… I did a really deep dive into her Instagram and I found that Boo is nowhere to be found,’ Ms Lawrence said, before saying the dog ‘may be camera shy’.

‘Pistol is all over her Instagram, so Pistol is around,’ she added. ‘Johnny Depp doesn’t have those dogs right now.’

Pistol was last pictured on Heard’s Instagram in May 2020. The Aquaman star shared a picture with an unnamed Yorkshire terrier in January this year.

She has also regularly shared snaps with her other dogs, including  Barnaby Joyce, named for the former Deputy Prime Minster of Australia who led the charge to get her prosecuted for bringing the Yorkshire Terriers into the country.

In April 2015, Depp and Heard flew their Yorkshire Terriers, named Pistol and Boo, into Australia, where the actor was filming Pirates of the Caribbean 5.

The actress, 36, is now is now subject to an ongoing perjury investigation related to court proceedings stemming from her visit to Queensland.

The transportation of their dogs violated Australia’s biosecurity laws as the couple failed to declare and quarantine them.

Authorities only became aware of the presence of Pistol and Boo when their visit to a Gold Coast dog grooming salon was made public on Facebook.

At the time, a fired-up Joyce insisted the dogs would be put down if they were not sent home to the U.S.

‘If we start letting movie stars – even though they’ve been the sexiest man alive twice – to come into our nation [and break the laws], then why don’t we just break the laws for everybody,’ he said during an infamous press conference.

‘It’s time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States.’

Meanwhile, Australian authorities could seek assistance from the FBI as they investigate claims Heard allegedly perjured herself in a Queensland court six years ago.

The Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment said last week it was ‘investigating allegations of perjury by Ms Heard during court proceedings for the 2015 illegal importation of [her] two dogs into Australia.’ The spokesperson confirmed the case was ‘ongoing’. A former Special Agent for the bureau told Law & Crime it’s common for Australian investigators to liaise with their American counterparts, and such a collaboration would be likely in this case given the relevant witnesses all ‘live overseas’.

Heard last month lost a high-profile defamation trial against her ex-husband.

During the defamation trial, the exes’ dogs came up when Heard addressed an incident in February 2016 when Depp claimed she pooped in their bed at their Los Angeles penthouse after an argument the night before on her 30th birthday.

Heard was charged with two counts of illegally importing the animals in July that year, but the case was closed when she pleaded guilty in April 2016 to falsifying travel documents. She and Depp also recorded a video apology (pictured) in which she expressed remorse for her actions

Depp’s chauffeur Starling Jenkins told the court Heard told him it was a ‘horrible practical joke gone wrong’.

Heard suggested it was one of their Yorkshire terriers, Boo, that did it, telling the court the animal had ‘eaten Johnny’s weed as a puppy and had bowel control issues for life’ 

Heard said Boo and their other dog, Pistol, would sleep in their bed so Boo wouldn’t have to get up in the night and possibly go to the bathroom on the floor.

Heard was charged with two counts of illegally importing the animals into Australia in July 2015; however, the case was closed when she pleaded guilty to falsifying travel documents in a Gold Coast court in April 2016.

But the dog-smuggling saga was given new life in October 2021, when it was exclusively revealed by DailyMail.com that Australian officials were investigating Heard for perjury over claims she lied to authorities about the circumstances in which her dogs were brought into the country.

The Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment last week confirmed the case was ‘ongoing’, telling Daily Mail Australia it was still ‘investigating allegations of perjury by Ms. Heard during court proceedings for the 2015 illegal importation of [her] two dogs into Australia’.

Perjury carries a maximum jail term of 14 years while the latter offence can result in a seven-year stretch under the Queensland penal code.

It’s unlikely the Australian government would try to have Heard extradited, but she could nonetheless face arrest if she tried to enter the country again.

All of the witnesses involved in the case ‘live overseas’.
