Amber Rose slams Donald Trump in feminist essay

Amber Rose slams President Trump for his treatment of women in her powerful essay about the importance of feminism in today’s political climate and her motivation for reclaiming the word ‘slut’.

The 33-year-old model revealed in her essay for MarieClaire.com that she has a ‘real problem’ with anyone denies the need for feminism in the Trump era when one in four American women are or will become victims of sexual assault.

‘Somehow in 2017, we’ve elected a president who has no problem labeling women as “fat pigs” and “dogs”. The literal leader of this nation says it’s okay to grab women by the pussy if you’re a man with power and influence,’ she wrote. ‘It’s as if he’s completely unaware of the very real risk of sexual assault women in America deal with each day.’

Amber said that using her platform to give women and other marginalized groups a safe place to exercise their right to freedom of speech is one of her ‘greatest accomplishments’, and she thinks it is ridiculous that people try to diminish her activism just because she has taken nude photos.

‘I’ve gotten a lot of backlash from people who feel I can’t be taken seriously as an activist and feminist because the world has seen me with my clothes off,’ she wrote. ‘I think that’s a bunch of bulls**t. I can absolutely call myself a feminist and post a picture of my naked body.’

Amber explained that as an intersectional feminist she believes that all women should have the freedom to do whatever they want with their bodies without judgement.

The social media star noted that all the men who claimed the Instagram picture of herself nearly-nude and bottomless wasn’t empowering are ‘likely the same men who claim victims of sexual assault are “asking for it” by wearing an outfit considered to be inappropriate.’

This weekend, Amber will host her third annual SlutWalk at Pershing Square in downtown Los Angeles — the first since President Trump was elected — and she said this ‘oppressive way of thinking’ is what makes the event necessary.

‘This country loves to objectify female bodies — hell, our president loves to objectify female bodies! — but when a woman takes that power away and exposes herself, everyone freaks the f**k out,’ she explained.

The mother-of-one said she is tired of media outlets asking about her ‘brand’ of feminism because solidarity is important when it comes to making a change.

Amber explained that she and other famous feminists want the same thing: equality.

The advocate stressed that she has lost count of how many times she has been called a slut, with the term being thrust upon her long before she was even sexually active.

‘The term “slut” never seemed to go away — in fact, I began to realize that I’d be called a slut whether I behaved according to other people’s standards or not,’ she said of her experience. ‘So, I decided to take the power out of that word and reclaim it. I said f**k it, hoe is life.’

Amber estimates that 20,000 people will attend her SlutWalk this year, and she revealed in a recent interview with Broadly that she hopes First Lady Melania Trump will turn her back on her husband and join them.

‘[Look at] how he treats his wife!’ she said of the president. ‘I’m a huge fan of Melania [Trump]. I just feel like I can’t wait for her to get away from him and have her at my SlutWalk.

‘She’s so trapped in that situation where she doesn’t want to be there. I wish she’d take control and leave his ass. That is going to be a great day.’
