American Chris Eubanks makes Wimbledon Round of 16 with win Christopher O’Connell

American Chris Eubanks makes his first Grand Slam Round of 16 with a win over Aussie Christopher O’Connell to keep shock Wimbledon run alive

American Chris Eubanks kept his shock Wimbledon run alive Saturday as he took down Aussie Christopher O’Connell in straight sets, winning 7-6(5), 7-6(3), 7-6(2)

Eubanks, who is playing in the main draw at Wimbledon for the first time, fired 23 aces past his opponent to move onto the fourth round in London.

It’s the first Grand Slam Round of 16 of the 27-year-old’s career, and up next is a tough test vs. world No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Prior to this year, Eubanks had never even been ranked in the top 100 and even became a part-time commentator on the Tennis Channel as he mulled his future in the sport, according to the Wall Street Journal.

But things have gone his way this summer.
