Layla Spring revealed as American Idol’s Golden Ticket winner during Dancing With the Stars’ season finale

Layla Spring is going back to Hollywood, after winning the Golden Ticket for the upcoming season of American Idol.

The 18-year-old singer performed in taped ‘auditions’ that aired during the American Music Awards on Sunday, along with Logan Johnson and Shawn Richardson.

And on Monday’s finale of Dancing With the Stars, American Idol judge Lionel Richie announced that Spring was the winner of the Golden Ticket, according to the fans.

Spring debuted on Season 16 of American Idol – its first outing after the show’s move from Fox to ABC – as a 16 year old from Marion County, Tennessee.

She advanced to the top 24, but she was eliminated in 24th place in the competition, which was eventually won by Maddie Poppe.

Spring performed the Carrie Underwood song Blown Away at the legendary venue Whiskey A GoGo, which aired at the AMA’s on Sunday.

Spring also took to her Instagram story, showing off a snap of her from the American Idol Instagram story, which she added to with her caption.

‘Ahhhh yall did it!! Y’all got us a golden ticket back to Hollywood. Thank you. See you in Hollywood,’ Spring said.

Richie will return as an Idol judge alongside Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, with Ryan Seacrest returning as host and Bobby Bones coming back as in-house mentor.

Season 18 of American Idol will debut February 16, 2020, the third season since moving from Fox to ABC.

Last season, American Idol dominated Sunday nights in the ratings, named as the top entertainment broadcast program in Adults 18-49 demographic.

It was also the most-watched show overall in its time slot, in addition to being Sunday’s No. 1 most-social show.

The judges embarked on a month’s worth of auditions for the new season, starting August 20 in Mobile, Alabama.

Auditions also took place in Tallahassee, Florida, Macon, Georgia, Santa Barbara, California, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Columbia, South Carolina, Las Vegas, Nevada  and more.

Auditions wrapped up in Chicago on September 21.
