American Idol loser Michael Simeon sues show due to ‘lost hearing after worker tore his eardrum taking out earpiece’

It is the show that has inflicted pain on viewers’ eardrums for many a year.

But now it has emerged American Idol loser Michael Simeon is suing the show for allegedly damaging his hearing after a worker on the show roughly ripped out his earpiece.

The 23-year-old claims a piece of his eardrum was torn out along with the device, and that his music career has been irreparably damaged as a result.

According to TMZ, Michael alleges he was immediately left in excruciating pain when the earpiece was first put in during his 2014 stint on the Fox show.

In his lawsuit he says he begged for the audiologist to take it out, but that she then pulled it with such ferocity some of his eardrum came along with it.

He says he was sent by producers to a room, where he was left to writhe in agony for a total of five hours.

Eventually he received treatment underwent tympanoplasty, the surgical operation performed for the reconstruction of the eardrum.

However he said he has been unable to perform to the same level as he used to ever since.

To add further insult to injury, he was only able to finish in the top 24 during season 14.

It was his second attempt at winning the show, as he also appeared during the previous series. 

Michael has not specified the damages he is seeking in his lawsuit.
