AGT quarterfinal 1
The first two quarterfinals have seen ten acts eliminated with a further five out of 12 acts set to get axed in the third quarterfinal.
The first week of quarterfinals saw Philippines dance group Junior New System get enough votes to progress to the semifinals.
They joined the 151-strong Angel City Chorale, who made it through on the live Dunkin’ Saves vote and the sibling band from Oregon, We Three, who were the first to be voted through.
Comedian Vicki Barbolak was the second to go through to the semis, telling Tyra: ‘I feel like I’m not even able to hold onto the earth, I’m just flying so high right now.’
Fourteen-year-old singers Courtney Hadwin and Amanda Mena also both made it through, while card trick magician Shin Lim nabbed the final Q1 spot, saying: ‘I’m feeling amazing, thank you so much all of America, I love every single one of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.’
AGT quarterfinal 2
The second quarterfinal made history by featuring the closest ever Dunkin’ Saves live vote, with host Tyra Banks revealing that there was ‘just 0.1 percent difference between the top two’ out of dance crew Da RepubliK, virtual reality showmen Front Pictures, and teen singer Makayla Phillips.
The teen ended up winning the vote, progressing through to the semifinal. However, Da RepubliK also ended up going through after all the judges with the exception of Howie picked them to go through.
They join husband and wife act Duo Transcend, who risked everything by repeating a dangerous trapeze trick that went wrong during the Judge Cuts round, in the semifinal.
Magician The Sacred Riana, who spooked the judges with her horror movie-styled look, failed to make the cut.
Former Glee star Noah Guthrie became Q2’s first act to progress to the semifinals while Voices of Hope Children’s Choir followed.
They were joined by singer Glennis Grace, who at first thought she was eliminated but had actually misheard Tyra, who said that both she and comedian Samuel J Comroe were through.
AGT quarterfinal 3
The last quarterfinal will see another seven acts progress to the semifinal. The acts hoping not to be eliminated include a mentalist from Bruges, Aaron Crow, electric violinist Brian King Joseph, singer Christina Wells and opera singer Daniel Emmet.
Acrobats Zurcaroh, singers Us the Duo, dance groups UDI Dance and The Future Kingz will also try their hardest to progress to the semis.
Illusionist Rob Lake, singers Michael Ketterer and Joseph O’Brien and musician Hans round off the last group of hopefuls.
