According to The Sun, show bosses were keen to sign the star onto the line-up, as they believe he will make ‘great TV’ – in light of his turbulent romantic life in recent weeks.
The reports however come just one day after Amir confirmed he had reconciled with his four month pregnant spouse Faryal , following their acrimonious split two months ago.
Welcome to the jungle:According to The Sun , show bosses were keen to sign the star onto the line-up, as they believe he will make ‘great TV’ – in light of his turbulent romantic life in recent weeks
While his appearance has not been fully confirmed, the paper claims the boxer has already jetted Down Under, leaving bosses ‘confident’ he will appear on the show.
A source said: ‘It’s been touch and go for a while, but now that he’s in Australia they’re confident he’ll end up in the camp – even though it isn’t yet signed and sealed.
‘ITV have been trying to get him to do the show for years so this is a real coup for them. They think he’ll make great TV.’

While show bosses had allegedly wanted him as a hunky single man to provoke romance on the show, Amir is instead keen to set things straight about his turbulent relationship with Faryal.
The insider added: ‘Amir’s hoping he can use the show as a springboard to help rebuild some of the damaged public perception of him after his marriage split.’
The official line-up has not yet been confirmed – but MIC’s Georgia Toffolo, actor Jamie Lomas, singer Vanessa White and footballer Dennis Wise have all landed in Australia this week, sparking speculation they will be heading to the Jungle.
MailOnline has contacted Amir’s representatives for comment.
Getting things straight: Amir is allegedly keen to use the show to set things straight about his turbulent relationship with Faryal and ‘rebuild some of the damaged public perception of him’
The reports come after the boxer confirmed he had reconciled with wife Faryal Makhdoom – just two months after he filed for divorce in the wake of bitter family feuds and public rows.
On Saturday Amir tweeted a picture of the couple snuggling in each other’s arms on the sofa in London.
He captioned it: ‘With my 4 month pregnant wife, after sorting out all the issues. Closing the year with a happy ending’.
Faryal then responded by quoting popular internet writer RM Drake.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘I hope one day, we find each other again and laugh over whatever pain we might have caused.’
Only two months ago Bolton-born Khan told his fans his marriage was over.
He said in a Snapchat video on 8 September: ‘So me and Faryal are not together. I have filed for a divorce.
‘I hear she has just announced she is pregnant. She didn’t tell me. I had to read it on social media.’
Staying strong: Faryal then responded by posting on Instagram a quote from writer RM Drake: ‘I hope one day, we find each other again and laugh over whatever pain we might have caused’
In a public war of words this summer both accused the other of cheating and Faryal accused Khan’s Pakistani parents of bullying her for not being a good Muslim.
Khan’s father Shah said she was ‘adopting a dress code which in the Islamic faith was not acceptable’.
Faryal also accused Khan’s sister of cropping her out of family photos.
But last weekend the American-Pakistani model hinted at a brighter future after months of acrimony.
She shared a picture of her with Khan, 30, and their three-year old daughter Lamaisah and captioned it: ‘We’re going to be doing this all over again.’
Family unit: Faryal is currently expecting Amir’s second child
She also appeared to reflect on her marriage by sharing a quote alongside a picture of herself in a bridal gown.
The 26-year-old posted on Instagram: ‘One day, you will find peace in the burning of the past.’
The post came a day after pictures emerged of Khan outside a shisha bar in London with Brazilian model Bella Gusmao before they jumped into a cab.
Khan, who has been out of the ring for nearly two years after suffering a heavy knockout, seemed in good spirits with the brunette, who bore a striking resemblance to Faryal.
Back together? Faryal appeared to dramatically reunite with estranged husband Amir Khan on Sunday evening, just days after the boxer enjoyed a night out with a Brazilian model
Happy families: The pregnant model appeared to hint that the warring couple were ready to put divorce proceedings on hold
New York-born Faryal and former unified light-welterweight world champion Khan, who married in 2013, share three-year-old daughter Lamaisah.
Faryal said she wants her daughter to be an ‘independent and strong’ example for Muslim women.
Khan, who is worth £23million, announced the couple’s split in August in a tweet that read: ‘So me and the wife Faryal have agreed to split. I’m currently in Dubai. Wish her all the best’.
Weeks later, Faryal revealed she was expecting their second child.
Last month Faryal posted a lengthy message on Twitter saying it is time for her and Khan to put their ‘differences behind us’.
She also apologised for all the ‘infighting’ between their parents, which she revealed has had a ‘terrible effect’ on her marriage.
She wrote to her 18,000 followers: ‘The past three months have been really tough on me and my marriage.
‘Matters haven’t been helped by the fact that my husband has been out of the ring for quite some time… it’s been very stressful for us as a couple, and a family.
Adding to their brood: New York-born Faryal and former unified light-welterweight world champion Amir, who married in 2013, share three-year-old daughter Lamaisah
‘I now recognise that all this infighting between me and my in-laws has had a terrible effect on my husband and I… and for that I would like to sincerely apologise.
‘My mother and father-in-law are the elders of our family and as such deserve love and respect just as much as my own parents do. I’ve said things in the past out of anger… I didn’t really mean and regret now.’
She added: ‘My daughter and unborn child do not deserve a broken home. That is why I have decided that it is time to put our differences behind us, and start afresh.
‘All families go through hard times. It is unfortunate for us that our difficulties were played out so publicly. I also apologise for my part in that.’
But Khan then publicly turned down her offer of reconciliation, confirming to fans their divorce would go ahead. Faryal then took down the plea for forgiveness.
The couple, who married in 2013, had a very public falling out on Twitter earlier this year, with each side accusing the other of cheating.
Khan even accused his American wife of having an affair with heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua.
Khan hit out at his wife, writing: ‘Left my family and friends for this Faryal. I’m not hurt but another fighter. I’m making it public. You getting the divorce #Golddigger.’
But Faryal hit back minutes later, claiming her husband left his family because they had ‘robbed’ him and telling him to ‘stop making false things up’.
Branding him a ’30-year-old baby’, she went on to accuse him of sleeping with prostitutes and being a bad role model.
Joshua laughed off Khan’s claims, posting the music video from pop star Shaggy’s It Wasn’t Me online, and saying he had never met Faryal.
Furious: Khan even accused his American wife of having an affair with heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua (pictured together)
Khan later apologised to Joshua and said there was ‘no truth’ to his claims.
The couple claim Khan was sent screenshots of ‘fake’ messages purportedly sent between Joshua and Faryal which he initially believed to be real.
Khan apologised after receiving a letter from Joshua’s legal team demanding an apology for the allegations.
After Joshua wrote ‘apology accepted’, Khan tweeted: ‘Glad all is cleared up and all lies. I got angry like any man would. No truth to it. Good to know. All the best.’
Problems began last year when Khan’s family said his wife, an American model, dressed improperly for a Muslim woman.
She accused them of verbal and physical abuse, but in a TV interview Khan’s parents called his wife an ‘evil woman’, while his sister claimed Faryal had prevented the family from seeing Lamaisah.
The couple were then hit by further drama when a sex tape of Khan performing a sex act on a webcam while chatting with a model was leaked to a US porn site.
