New Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo has started his first day in the job as the Serie A side returned for pre-season training on Monday.

Pirlo was pictured putting the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Giorgio Chiellini and Gianluigi Buffon through their paces – all of whom are said to have given the green light to Pirlo’s return to the club as the manager.

Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who faces an uncertain future at the club, was seen arriving for training.

Pirlo is already hard at work as he is reportedly urging the club to bring in Italy legend Alessandro Nesta as assistant boss.

Pirlo and Nesta shared glory days together during their time at AC Milan and also with the national team, and now Pirlo is seeking to call upon his old friend once again.

Nesta is currently manager of Serie B outfit Frosinone, but is open to a move after enduring a painful defeat in the play-off final against Spezia, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport.

It is reported that Pirlo already personally put a phone call in to Nesta recently, prior to the end of the season, in order to sell him the project he has in mind for Juventus going forward.

Nesta, however, was unable to give full consideration with his mind occupied by the Serie B play-off final. Now that has been determined, it is expected that a decision will be made.

Pirlo already has Roberto Baronio and Antonio Gagliardi – who are both match analysts – arriving from the national team for his Juve project.

Paolo Bertelli is also to be appointed as the new fitness trainer, while compensation has been settled with Hadjuk Split to take on Igor Tudor – who returns to his former club as one of Pirlo’s assistant coaches.

Pirlo and Gianluigi Buffon have also made personal attempts to lure Arturo Vidal into a Juventus return this summer, according to reports.

The 33-year-old midfielder departed Turin in 2015 to join Bayern Munich, and has more recently spent two seasons with Barcelona.
