NRL Immortal Andrew Johns has revealed he is finally ready to bury the hatchet with his brother Matthew and bring an end to their eight-week family feud.

The footy siblings – who often don’t see eye to eye – have had little contact following a heated on-air debate ahead of the State of Origin series opener.

Fox Sports identity Matthew Johns, who hosts the Morning Glory program each Friday, praised the coaching abilities of Queensland coach Billy Slater, which got under his younger brother’s skin.

‘Mate, I’m sick of you rapping Queensland, that’s what I’m sick of,’ Andrew fumed on live radio.

‘Put your Maroon jersey on, you should have some at home.

‘Just because you played four games and lost all four doesn’t mean you need to s**t bag NSW.’

Now Andrew has revealed that the pair will smoke the peace pipe and are planning to spend a lunchtime together.

Appearing on 2GB, Andrew told host Ben Fordham that the pair were going to work on their relationship – but they won’t be taking over Brad Fittler’s job as Blues coach any time soon.

‘That won’t be happening,’ said Johns.

‘But we’re going to have lunch in the next couple of days.

‘I rang him and said I’ll talk to you after Origin.’

Matthew has said on his podcast, alongside sons Cooper and Jack, that Andrew was ready to punch on the next time their paths cross.

‘I’ve just heard through the grapevine that basically he’s said to people that next time he sees me, he’s going to take my head off,’ Matthew said.

‘Well, I just hope he’s learned to fight as opposed to the last time we had a little going over. No, I haven’t heard from him.’

While Andrew has not been talking to Matthew, he does remain in contact with his sibling’s NRL player sons, Cooper and Jack.

‘I talk to him,’ Jack said on the podcast.

‘Me and him are quite close.’

Matty replied: ‘So you’re swapping to the other side, eh, Judas?

‘Well, why don’t youse all just join in and give me a kicking, like your f***ing uncle, okay?

Do you think if NSW win Origin, Joey will give me a call and bury the hatchet?

‘Or do you think, this grudge, he’ll carry it on forever? Because I hope he carries it on forever.’
