Andy Lee and girlfriend Rebecca Harding don’t think marriage is ‘super important’

Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding have insisted that they’re happy where their relationship is at and are tired of fielding questions about marriage and children.

Gracing the cover of Stellar magazine’s latest issue, the lovebirds revealed why they don’t feel the need to rush things.

Andy, 41, said that while perceived ‘milestones’ like marriage are important for many people, ‘they’re not for everyone’.

‘Some people find those milestones [like marriage] super important in their lives. But they’re not for everyone,’ Andy insisted.

Rebecca, 30, added they have already taken steps to demonstrate their commitment for each other and they’re currently taking things as they come.

‘It is really unfair and there is also other pressure to have kids, as well. And unfortunately for women, we do have a little bit of a clock that’s ticking…’ she said.

‘We’re loving where we’re at, really. We’ve bought a house. We’ve got a dog, and we have a few other projects, too.’

Their tell-all interview with Stellar follows some jokey banter on the same topic earlier this month.

When quizzed about a potential engagement on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Andy comically said: ‘I’m just waiting for Bec to do it.’

The radio and TV star joked that he gets ‘so upset’ every time the couple go away and Bec fails to ask for his hand in marriage.

Host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson went on to question if Bec actually would actually pop the question.

‘She might do it,’ Andy said, before adding he wouldn’t like it if she was the one to ask because ‘he is a little bit old school in that regard.’

He went on to say that Bec was ‘pretty old school’ too, meaning she would wait for him to get on bended knee and propose.

The couple have been together since 2014, but they split up briefly in 2016 before getting back together.

Rebecca, 31, who met Andy while she was a waitress in 2014, has said that being the partner of someone in the public eye left her feeling ‘insecure and miserable’.

‘I was starting my career and doubting myself and my ability. Did I get this job because of who I’m dating? I’d make friends and wonder, do they actually like me? I struggled,’ she told Sydney Morning Herald.

Andy, 40, who went public with Rebecca at the 2015 Australian Open, added: ‘It was a really sad, tough time – and confronting because I had to accept that what I do for a living created the situation.’

After Bec felt ‘immense pressure’ dating someone in the public eye, the pair called it quits for half a year in 2016.

However, they soon realised they were meant to be during their time apart.

‘I thought my sadness would pass and I’d get on with my life, but the feeling didn’t go. When I still felt the same after six months, it was clear to me I should see whether she was interested,’ Andy said.

Now, the duo are in a better place than ever – and even splashed out $8.5million last November on a house in Hawthorn which they are now renovating.
