Andy Murray has poked fun at Jack Draper’s new appearance ahead of the clay season.

Draper is riding the crest of a wave right now, rising to No 7 in the world rankings after winning in Indian Wells – before falling at the first hurdle in Miami days after.

He has been preparing for his next outing, also enjoying some time off at home, where he has appeared to make a subtle change to his appearance.

The 23-year-old took to Instagram to show off his latest ventures, which featured training with Jake Fearnley, enjoying the sun… and a little bit more training.

Murray, however, wasn’t prepared to see the serious side of things and took to the comments to poke fun at his apparent successor and current British No 1.

‘Not sure if you noticed but I think a bird has [excrement emoji] on your hair in that photo,’ Murray posted.

He appeared to be referring to the first picture, which showed Draper alongside Fearnley on a clay court.

Draper has blonde streaks in his hair that seem to have been in place since before his success at Indian Wells, but it is a different style to what fans have been used to.

Usually wearing a backwards cap during his games, Draper’s locks were on full show in the social media snap.

He saw the funny side of things with Murray’s comment, too. Though he did not reply, he liked the three-time Grand Slam winner’s comment.

The first main event of the clay season takes place in Monte Carlo next week, with Draper seeded sixth in a tournament Stefanos Tsitsipas is looking to win for a fifth time.

Jannik Sinner is the most notable absentee from the tournament as he serves his three-month suspension amid his doping ban.
