Angry Roy Keane SLAMS shoddy Tottenham’s second-half display as Chelsea romp home to 3-0 victory 

Roy Keane has blasted Tottenham’s woeful second-half performance as they we resoundingly beaten 3-0 by Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Spurs successfully kept the Blues at bay in the first-half with the score 0-0 and Chelsea failing to create many chances. But Thomas Tuchel’s men came out flying in the second half and were dominant as Spurs came up short.

Thiago Silva broke the deadlock with a powerful header, before N’Golo Kante scored a deflected second and Antonio Rudiger wrapped up a fine display with the third goal.

Keane said he was ‘angry’ with Spurs’ efforts

For all Chelsea’s brilliance, Keane did not pull his punches when assessing the efforts of Nuno Espirito Santo’s men in the second half. 

‘Chelsea were excellent, with real quality and desire,’ the former Manchester United midfielder said on Sky Sports. 

‘It was men versus boys – I could not believe how bad Spurs were. You can have an off day and obviously some days you lose to quality, but lack of desire.

‘We saw it with the second (goal) and probably third – all the goals… talk about wanting to put your body on the line.’

Keane continued berating Spurs, saying they failed to do simple things and allowed Chelsea to dictate the game. 

‘I was angry watching Spurs today,’ he said.

‘You are going to be under pressure playing a fantastic team, but you stay in the fight by doing the basics, by running out and closing the ball down.

‘You learn that when you are five years of age.

‘Chelsea are a brilliant team – pure quality. But (Harry) Kane’s body language… oh my goodness. Tottenham players were not doing the basics for the second goal. You’ve got to show desire. 

‘It’s like a boxer being on the ropes – you’ve got to stay in the fight. You’re going to be under pressure.’

Fellow Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness agreed with Keane’s view.

‘Spurs were making fundamental mistakes,’ he said. ‘If you don’t do the basics, you’ll get punished.’ 

Famous for his relentless commitment and ferocious drive on the pitch, Keane lambasted Spurs’ attitude, particularly after they went a goal behind. 

‘They (Spurs) are probably feeling a bit sorry for themselves (after conceding). Rubbish! You play for 90 minutes.

‘They (Chelsea) brought some more energy (after the break). You’re going to have an off-day, but bring energy. There might be a lack of quality, but you want to see energy.’
