A range of keep cups sold at Kmart and Target have been recalled due to safety concerns.

The Anko cups were recalled on Wednesday after the discovery of a design error.

The faulty cups’ lids can pop off when pressure builds from the steam inside.

‘When the cup is filled with hot liquid, the lid may rapidly release and pop off as there is no pressure release valve,’ the Product Safety recall said.

The recall warned there is a ‘risk of serious injury from hot liquid or steam burns if the cup lid unexpectedly ejects from the cup’ and at least one person has already been injured as a result

Consumers were instructed to ‘stop using the product immediately’.

The affected product was available in four colours – sunset (pink), sage (green), black and rose gold.

They were sold around Australia, internationally and online between December 18, 2024, and April 7, 2025.

Faulty products can be identified by the SKU numbers displayed on the products: 43479030, 43479047, 43479054 and 43512287.

A full refund is available for customers who return the product to the place of purchase.

‘Contact the store of purchase if you are unable to return the product to the store. Tell us if you have sold or gifted the product to another person,’ the Product Safety recall said.
