Annabel Croft wows viewers with an energetic jive on Strictly Come Dancing after admitting to ‘struggling’ with challenges of the show last week

She admitted to ‘struggling’ with the challenges of the show last week, but after a rousing pep talk from dance partner Johannes Radebe, Annabel Croft wowed Strictly viewers with an energetic jive last night.

Dancing to Feel It Still by Portugal The Man, the former tennis ace cast aside her doubts and scored an impressive 29.

Croft wasn’t the only star to have felt the pressure of the competition – Paralympian Jody Cundy revealed he’d had to turn to painkillers after missing two days of training through an infection on his leg.

Asked if he feared that he would have to pull out, he responded: ‘When it was bad and I couldn’t put my leg on, there were worries that I wouldn’t be able to dance.

‘I wasn’t really sure where we went from there. I managed to put my leg back on Friday morning.’

Soap star Nigel Harman and Katya Jones wowed judges with their salsa to Suavemente by Elvis Crespo, earning 33 points.

Head judge Shirley Ballas, meanwhile, has revealed how 79-year-old Angela Rippon’s impressive splits in a glittering silver dress last month helped her regain the confidence to show her calves on live TV – and once again wear mini-skirts.

Speaking at the Cheltenham Literary Festival, she said: ‘You will notice a slight change in my clothing this year. I never really liked the look of my legs so I tend to wear trousers or long clothing. But when Angela came out and she wore that short dress and lifted her leg up, I thought, ‘Wow, smashing legs there.’

‘So I said to my stylist, ‘I want four inches above the knee, put a bit of fake tan on, five-inch heels and let’s go.’ I mean, why not?’
