Anne-Marie Duff has lashed out at ITV’s Lorraine show for misquoting her as saying she was ‘terrified’ of movie boss Harvey Weinstein, on Thursday morning.
The former Shameless actress was in conversation with host Lorraine Kelly on ITV about about allegations of sexual harassment, assault and rape when the tagline below her image was changed to: ‘I Was Terrified Of Weinstein.’
While Lorraine viewers were quick to point out that they weren’t words that Anne-Marie used, the actress, 47, later confirmed it was ‘misleading and inaccurate’ representation of her comments about the disgraced producer.

A representative for Anne-Marie told MailOnline after the show: ‘I can confirm she has been misquoted. It was a false statement made by ITV.
‘It was misleading and inaccurate to include this tagline while discussing the Weinstein story.’
The amicable interview covered parenting, her new play and her Hollywood career and producers quickly changed the tagline to ‘Homegrown Hollywood Talent’ as talk turned to her son.
Though viewers similarly felt like the actress had been misquoted.
One outraged viewer pointing out: ‘Anne Marie duff didn’t say she was terrified of Harvey Weinstein like the caption said ??? #ITVLorraine’

Another concurred with the observation, saying: ‘@ITVLorraine at not one point did she say that!!’
While one more comment read: ‘@ITVLorraine watching AMD [Anne-Marie Duff] interview, talking about HW [Harvey Weinstein], then all of a sudden the headline she was terrified of him’
While Anne-Marie branded the movie boss’s behaviour ‘disgraceful’ and spoke about his power over the industry, she did not suggest that she was ‘terrified’ of him.
A representative for Lorraine has been contacted by MailOnline for clarification.
‘We are all talking about it,’ she said on the show, as the topic was broached by Lorraine, ‘As we should be – because it’s disgraceful behaviour.
‘I’ve worked on a couple of films that Harvey’s company was responsible for distributing in America so you have to understand how powerful this man has been, and that’s the issue really.’

She added: ‘Ultimately, you’re looking at a man responsible for getting movies into cinemas so for a lot of young actors and actresses, if somebody says: “If you don’t do this for me, then the whole film’s future can be affected” and that’s an awful weight of responsibility.
‘We often talk about parity in pay – especially in our industry – between men and women but unless we address core issues like, respect for your very existence in the movie industry, then we cannot yet look at things like financial issues.’
And then the blonde concluded: ‘As soon as you lift the big old rock, out crawls all the nastiness but it’s good we only get rid of it by naming it.’
American film producer Harvey, 65, has been accused of sexual harassment, assault and rape by a number of actresses, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Ashley Judd, as well as assault and rape by three actresses including, indirectly, Rosie McGowan.

Weinstein has admitted to some but not all of the allegations made against him. He has ‘unequivocally denied’ any allegations of non-consensual sex.
Anne-Marie worked with The Weinstein Company on 2010’s Nowhere Boy, while her ex-husband James McAvoy starred in their film, The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby in 2013.
The acting pair divorced at the start of this year after meeting on the set of Shameless and continue to co-parent their seven-year-old son.
During the interview, she said she was not sure whether their son would follow them into the movie industry, and would secretly rather he was guaranteed work.

‘I would like him to be a plumber,’ she conceded. ‘You know, where there’s guaranteed work but he will be, who he will be.
‘At the moment, I think he wants to be a rockstar but it’s more about who he wants to be.’
Though she did not shed light on their amicable post-divorce relationship, she said: ‘We have this beautiful boy, and that’s something to be very proud of.’
James shared similar insight, during an interview with Mr Porter magazine in January: My life has changed massively. At the same time so much has stayed the same.
He added: ‘Me and Anne-Marie, when we were together, it was our policy not to speak about each other in public.

‘We rarely broke that and if we did, it was for tiny things – “Yes, we are cooking turkey this Christmas” – and that policy still stands. Even separated, we’re still respectful of each other and committed to doing that publicly and personally.

Anne-Marie added: ‘It’s about a chance encounter between a woman in her forties and a man in his seventies, and they develop a relationship and it’s about being lonely and how easy it is to become separate to the rest of the world.
‘About how we really crave connection with other people. And I think that’s really a problem for us now, we’re in big cities, we work very hard. We don’t get the chance to just sit back and look at what’s around us.
On her co-star Kenneth Cranham: ‘He’s a wonderful actor and a lovely man, so I’m very luck to be able to share the stage with him.’
