Ant and Dec give a glimpse at their life in South Africa while filming I’m A Celebrity spin-off

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have given fans a glimpse at their life in South Africa while they’re in the country to film for the upcoming I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! spin-off show.

The television presenters took to Instagram on Sunday to share a clip of Dec on his 47th birthday as he was showered with gifts from Ant, 46.

Broadcaster Ant cheekily gave Dec neatly gift wrapped portions of South African edible dried, cured meat snack that increased with size as he opened each present.

The pair were seen arriving for filming in a white car to be greeted by the cheering crew who wore party hats and showered Dec with confetti and glitter.

Former Byker Grove stars Ant and Dec were then seen sitting beneath a gazebo close to their dressing room on set as Ant gave his pal his presents.

Dec said to Ant: ‘How does it feel having your birthday on I’m A Celebrity,’ to which Dec replied: ‘It’s weird, isn’t it!’

Calling Dec a ‘very special guy’, Ant encouraged his mate to open his birthday presents, starting with the smallest items first.

After Dec unwrapped the first gift, Ant shouted: ‘Biltong! Do you like Biltong? We’re in South Africa!’

When Dec responded positively, Dec excitedly exclaimed again: ‘Biltong!’

Dec then proceeded to open more packets of Biltong, with the star looking increasingly baffled.

Once he had undone all the parcels, Dec risked upsetting his pal Ant as he asked: ‘Can I carry on eating my muesli now?’

A number of stars have been tipped to appear on the upcoming I’m A Celebrity spin-off including former Hear’Say singer Myleene Klass, actress Helen Flanagan, Coronation Street star Andy Whyment and model Janice Dickinson.

The brand new all-stars version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is being filmed in South Africa.

The new stand alone show will run in addition to the usual annual ITV programme – which is set to return to the Australian jungle this year after two years in Wales – and is likely to air next summer.

Channel bosses have signed up Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly to host the show and legendary contestants from the past will compete, taking part in trials while living in camp.

A source told MailOnline: ‘The team behind I’m A Celebrity are making a brand new spin off of the hit series featuring the most loved, favourite campmates from previous years.

‘The campmates will be doing trials and living in the camp environment, but with fresh and exciting new twists, and they will have a hand in their own destiny through a series of internal votes and challenges.

‘The new edition is likely to air in 2023 but before that viewers will get to enjoy the show’s much anticipated return to Australia in November.’

The spin-off won’t have any sort of public vote as in other series.

A source told MailOnline: ‘The show is still very much based in the world of I’m A Celebrity – the camp mates will be doing trials and living in the camp environment, but with fresh and exciting new twists on the format.

'It's taken months of negotiations': Helen Flanagan is also 'set to return to I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here' 10 years after her first stint on the show, according to reports

It’s thought the new spin-off will be a slightly shorter format of two weeks instead of the usual three.

The new pre-recorded show will either air in November or kept back to be broadcast in early 2023.

The main reality show is returning to the Australian jungle for the first time in three years after it was held in Gwrych Castle in North Wales due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic.
