Ant and Dec ‘so happy’ as ITV renew ’emotional rollercoaster’ game show Limitless for two more seasons

Ant and Dec were ‘so happy’ at ITV’s decision to renew their hit show Limitless, which the pair define as an ’emotional rollercoaster’.

The dynamic duo have hosted two seasons of the nail-biting show and are set for two more – the first of which will premiere on ITV1 and ITVX in 2024.

The game show sees contestants answer general knowledge questions in a bid to win as much money as possible.

Contestants climb the ‘limitless ladder’ in pairs, the jackpot is truly limitless and the game could technically go on forever if contestants kept on winning.

In order to remain in the game they are not allowed to answer with a number over the correct answer, or they run out of lives.

Speaking on the news of the renewal, Ant said: ‘We’re so happy that Limitless Win has been such a hit with the viewers, we love making it. It’s such a thrilling and emotional roller coaster of a show we can’t wait to make more.’

Dec added: ‘We’re bracing ourselves for another two series of high tension and nail-biting drama as more contestants take on the Limitless ladder.

‘We’re excited to see how high they can climb now they’re so much more familiar with the show. Bring it on.’

The renewal comes after the rejigging of the show to introduce a lifeline in the latest season.

Dec admitted that the duo initially refused to take part in the lifeline because they felt too much pressure, but ‘eventually warmed to it.’

He added: ‘Yet, as soon as it came to the first record and that lifeline popped up, honestly my heart sank. I thought, ‘Oh God. Oh no. What have we done here? The pressure, the pressure.’

Katie Rawcliffe, head of commissioning at ITV, said: ‘Limitless Win has very quickly accrued a loyal family audience and become one of our most unique and nail biting game shows. We look forward to more fun on the money ladder in 2024.’

Members of the general public can apply to be contestants on the next series via the ITV website.

Limitless Win was one of the series Ant and Dec decided to work on in place of the family favourite show, Saturday night takeaway.

The two made the decision to pause the show a few months ago, Ant said: ‘We love making Saturday Night Takeaway, but reaching the milestone of 20 series seemed like the perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath.’

We still have a momentous 20th series to look forward to first so we will do our best to go out (for now) with a bang in 2024.’

Despite shelving the series, the two have remained very busy, and continue to present Britain’s Got Talent and I’m a Celebrity – as well as its South African spinoff.

They also present ITV1’s docuseries DNA Journey, and will star in the reboot of CCBC’s teen drama Byker Grove, which catapulted the pair to fame in the 1990s.
