An Australian man is fighting for life in Thailand after being involved in a horror motorbike accident.

Anthonie Trejo, 34, from Melbourne, was travelling through a rural area of the South East Asian country earlier this week when he was critically injured in a crash.

He was taken to a local hospital before being transported to a facility in Bangkok, where he remains in a coma.

‘At the moment he’s had his left leg amputated, has a punctured lung in which they found 6-7 pieces of metal, other bone fractures and internal bleeding,’ a friend wrote on Facebook.

‘He’s connected to a ventilator. They don’t yet know if he’s suffered any brain damage as he is too fragile atm to perform a CT scan.’

A GoFundMe has been set up to help bring him home and support his family, who have raced over to the Southeast Asian country to be by his side.

The fundraiser has so far raised more than $50,000 of its $100,000 goal since being launched on Wednesday.

‘Anthonie will require some invasive, life saving procedures as a result of complications. These procedures understandably will come at a cost,’ it reads.

‘Thank you all for your ongoing support, it is needed more now than ever along with your continued prayers for his recovery.’

Trejo is a professional fighter who has fought on many shows around Australia and abroad.

He is trained in Mixed Martial Arts, including Muay Thai boxing.

His mother Adriana Carranza, who has flown to Thailand, issued a message on Saturday to thank everyone for their support.

‘He is very bad at the moment,’ she wrote on Facebook.

‘I ask you to continue praying for him.’
