Antiques Roadshow’s ‘youngest ever’ guest left shocked over massive value of genie lamp-style teapot

A schoolboy was left shocked by the value of his genie lamp on Antiques Roadshow.

The youngster appeared on the BBC Sunday teatime staple when it arrived at Roundhay Park in Leeds, where he brought along a sterling teapot he had found on the side of the road in a box marked ‘free.’

The boy – who is thought to be the youngest-ever guest on the long-running series – did not reveal his name, but the antique teapot was marked with the letter G, which is his initial.

Revealing more about the history of the teapot, expert Lagina Austin explained: ‘It’s what they call a demitasse pot, which would be used for coffee rather than tea. And this was probably part of a set.

‘And the G on there is probably a family name of whoever this belonged to at one point. You’re right that it’s sterling silver.’

He exclaimed: ‘Wow for something I found on the side of the road. That’s amazing.’

The clip soon went viral on TikTok, and social media users flocked to the comments to praise the intelligent young man.

One said: ‘This child has the enunciation I have been trying to achieve for 53 years’.

Another added:  ‘Such a smart and articulate young man.’

Just moments before the valuation took place, the boy explained he had wanted to appear on television since he was five years old.
