Antoine Griezmann could leave Atletico Madrid for a cut-price fee when the summer transfer window opens due to an exit clause in his contract, according to reports.

The Frenchman enjoyed another strong season under the guidance of Atletico boss Diego Simeone, scoring 16 goals and registering six assists in 33 LaLiga games.

His performances secured him a place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad ahead of the upcoming European Championship and Griezmann could be heading to a new club after the tournament.

Griezmann returned to Spain’s capital on a permanent transfer last summer following an unsuccessful spell at rivals Barcelona, but has a £12.8m release clause in his contract, as reported by L’Equipe.

The 33-year-old remains one of Europe’s deadliest finishers and the price of his availability has seen several European and MLS sides register their interest.

Griezmann has never played in the professional ranks outside of Spain but could be interested in a big-money move to either the Premier League, MLS, or Saudi Arabia.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants to bring another striker to the club in the summer as a back-up option to Rasmus Hojlund, with Griezmann representing a strong option.

The former World Cup winner has also previously signalled his interest playing in America’s MLS, where several former LaLiga stars now play including former Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Speaking at the end of last year, Griezmann stated: ‘Beyond Europe, what I would like later is the MLS. I have always recognized that.  But Atletico will be almost one hundred percent my last club in Europe.

‘It’s where I want to be, where I see myself happiest and here I am at home.’

However, Atletico’s top scorer is yet to signal any immediate interest in leaving the club with over 12 months still remaining on his existing contract.

Griezmann will have the final say on any move after Euro 2024 with France amongst the favourites to lift the UEFA title in Germany.
