Antoine Griezmann tells Kylian Mbappe he signed him for £134m for Newcastle on Football Manager

Antoine Griezmann reveals his Football Manager obsession after winning FIVE trophies with Newcastle on popular computer game… and tells France team-mate Kylian Mbappe he bought him for £134m!

Self-confessed Football Manager fan Antoine Griezmann has showed off his latest exploits on the game after leading Newcastle United to glory.

Griezmann this week revealed he has been back playing the popular football computer game during his down-time between matches for the France national team.

The Barcelona star was filmed as the France squad were mid-flight, in between their final friendly warm-up fixtures before Euro 2020, while showing off his latest team and signings.

Griezmann, who once transformed Arsenal’s fortunes on the game while signing the likes of Chris Mepham from Bournemouth, has now selected another Premier League side to help make the big time.

A smiling Griezmann was filmed by France’s social media channels, sitting next to Barca team-mate Ousmane Dembele on the flight.

The long-haired striker could be heard proudly explaining how he had won five trophies with the Magpies, while holding out a hand to further signify this total.

Griezmann reeled off his virtual trophies to Dembele, revealing he had taken Newcastle to the summit of both the Premier League and the Champions League.

He then roped superstar Kylian Mbappe into the conversation, by telling the PSG ace he had actually signed him on the game for the costly sum of £134million.

Mbappe, looking slightly perplexed, simply replied: ‘Newcastle, where? It’s not very warm there eh?’

Football Manager appears to be quite the consistent theme within the France ranks, after it was revealed several years ago that Dembele himself is also partial to playing the game.

Back in 2016 Dembele was also seen playing during international duty with France, before the days when he was a Barca player.

The striker had set up a career with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and had even signed himself for the Merseyside club, in his quest to achieve silverware and test his hand at management – albeit in an online capacity.

More recently, Dembele had used his downtime at the Russia World Cup to create another career – this time attempting to take the lesser known Winchester FC to greatness.

France chiefs will be glad that their stars are keeping their heads firmly in the football world, ahead of a crunch European championships in which Les Bleus are hot favourites to win.

France enter the tournament as world champions, though will face a testing group stage at Euro 2020.

Didier Deschamps’ men begin proceedings against Germany on June 15, before facing Hungary and current European champions Portugal thereafter.
