ANZ outage: ANZ bank cards not working as issues strike

Millions of Australians impacted by huge banking outage stopping card payments as services crash without warning

  • ANZ visa and debit card services went AWOL for a about ‘an hour’ on Wednesday
  • Millions of Aussies were impacted and some took to Twitter to vent frustrations
  • ANZ Media spokesman said the incident was resolved before 9am Wednesday

The ANZ Bank’s card payment services snag, where the system crashed without warning, has been resolved.

The early Wednesday morning outage left millions of Australians unable to make any purchases.

A media spokesman Nick Higginbottom told Daily Mail Australia that the incident that went for about ‘one hour’ had resolved itself before 9am.

An ANZ post apologised for any frustrations caused after the Wednesday morning outage

But not before some irate social media users posted their frustrations earlier.

‘Ok great so ANZ is down and I can’t buy a damn coffee,’ one person said on Twitter.

‘Why can’t I pay any bills this morning,’ another person wrote.

‘What’s going on with your card system? It’s down and can’t pay for anything plus no one’s picking up the phone,’ a third person said.

Outage monitoring website, DownDetector, revealed that customers began experiencing issues with ANZ cards around 7.30am.

An ANZ Twitter post said card transactions should be back on track and ‘we’re so sorry for any frustration this has caused.’
