AOC blasts Fox News for ‘unmitigated racism’ and says she won’t appear on the network

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has blasted Fox News allowing for ‘unmitigated racism’ and said she won’t go on the network because their ad revenue pays the salary of a ‘white supremacist sympathizer’.

The Congresswoman responded after seeing a guest on Tucker Carlson’s show label her Bronx-Queens, New York 14th District ‘dirty’ because of ‘illegal aliens’.

‘I go back and forth on whether to go on Fox News,’ AOC told her Twitter followers Wednesday.

‘The main reason I haven’t is squaring the fact that the ad revenue from it bankrolls a white supremacist sympathizer to broadcast an hour-long production of unmitigated racism, without any accountability whatsoever.’

Conservative editor, Seth Barron, made the offensive comments after Carlson mocked Ocasio-Cortez for sponsoring the Green New Deal.

‘We’re connoisseurs of irony on this show, but if you claim to care about the environment, you’d think that the little piece of America you’re responsible for, that you represent in the Congress, would be clean,’ Carlson said on Tucker Carlson tonight. ‘But hers isn’t. Why?’

‘Well, part of the reason is because her district is actually one of the least American districts in the country,’ City Journal’s Seth Barron, replied.

‘And by that, I don’t mean that it’s not part of America, but it’s occupied by relatively few American citizens. A very high percentage of her district is, in fact, illegal aliens.’

Barron added: ‘Now, the way they inhabit housing there is such that they live in a lot of illegal spaces like basements, and many people live there, so they wind up producing a lot of garbage that the landlords don’t want thrown out normally.

‘Hence, you wind up with a lot of garbage on the streets, you have illegal food vendors pouring their pig grease into the gutters. I worked out there, it can be a little gross.’

Referencing the discussion, AOC added in a tweet: ‘“Immigrants are dirty” is a lazy, tired, racist trope.’

‘Secondly, environmental injustice is a major motivation as to why we introduced and wrote the Green New Deal the way we did in the first place,’ she added.

Barron later apologized for his wording.

‘On Tucker Carlson’s show last night, I discussed the issue of trash on the streets in Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s district. I chose the wrong words and that is my fault. I am sorry,’ he began. ‘The issue I intended to raise was that immigrants, both documented and not, are often unable to access legal, affordable housing.

‘This crisis has led many people, including immigrants, to illegal basement dwellings, where landlords fail to collect trash, leaving residents in a tough position, ultimately putting their garbage on the streets.

‘I didn’t do justice to a complex issue and I apologize.’

He shared data from a 2018 Census report that said about 46 percent of dwellers in the district are foreign-born.

But it failed to show how that linked to his point which focused on illegal immigrants the Fox News program and referenced the ‘relatively large non-citizen population of AOC’s district’ in his later tweet.

The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur noted on Twitter in regards to the harmful comments by Barron: ‘Every citizen is 100% American no matter where they’re from.’
