An Apple expert revealed the upcoming iPhone 15 will be a game-changer, with upgrades so significant the 250 million iOS users who have not upgraded in four years will run to grab one.
Dan Ives, an industry insider with Wedbush Securities, predicts the new smartphone will have more battery power, better camera tech, a new design – all coming at a $100 to $200 price increase.
He told DailyMail.com that it is only a matter of time before Apple aggressively moves into artificial intelligence – and the iPhone 15 could be its stepping stone.
The managing director believes the Health app could have AI capabilities to improve data collection on heart rate, breathing and sleeping.
And there might be a separate App Store dedicated to AI-powered apps.

AI powers Apple’s Siri, but the tech giant has yet to add the tech to other aspects of its devices – putting it behind the likes of Google, which added the software to its Pixel cameras.
The software adjusts the color balance and lighting to represent people in photos more accurately and increases sharpness in night photos.
Ives is well-known in the tech industry for his Apple and Tesla predictions.
He reported in 2021 that the iPhone 12 would become the most popular Apple smartphone since the iPhone 6 – and the expert was correct.
iPhone 12 became the best-selling smartphone all-around and Apple’s most successful series.
And Ives was spot on about a price increase with the iPhone 14 – he said it would be $100 more.
Now he is putting a lot of emphasis on AI making its way to the iPhone 15.
Apple’s step into the AI race
Ives told DailyMail.com that AI functionality could make a dramatic rollout in the Health app.
The software is believed to have the power to tailor user workouts and meal plans and track everything from sleep to breathing with better data.
It would do so by monitoring your movement, exercise routine and food intake, which would be used to create a unique plan.
And Apple is also expected to develop AI to track moods by capturing speech and analyzing text messages.
By capturing speech, the software could tell if you are feeling happy, sad, stressed, and other moods – the same would work with text messages.
‘We believe it’s a matter of when, not if, Apple makes the aggressive move into AI. Cook plays chess while others play checkers,’ said Ives.
Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 15 in September as it does every year.
The iPhone 14 has a price tag of $799, but Ives believes the upcoming handset will be much more.
Here are all the predicts made by Ives and other rumors about the iPhone 15 swirling the web
An improved camera with more megapixels for better photos
The expert also predicted that there will be a 20 to 30 percent improvement in the iPhone 15 camera, meaning better megapixels
A 2022 report revealed that 90 percent of people who have taken photos have only done so with a smartphone.
This means camera quality is at the top of the list, and Apple is well aware.
‘We’ve heard there is a 20 to 30 percent improvement than the iPhone 14,’ Ives said.
‘This will likely include megapixels and other capabilities around photos that are not even imaginable with the iPhone 14.’
The iPhone 15 is expected to feature the same dual-sensor camera setup, but could also feature the 48MP main sensor included in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max.
These predictions were made by analyst Jeff Pu, who is also a leading Apple expert and viewed by MacRumors in a research note.
And the iPhone 15 Pro could have the long-rumored periscope instead.
This periscope camera made headway in 2020 after MacRumors saw another research note from renowned Apple product predictor and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Periscope lenses use mirrors to provide a much greater optical zoom.
New colors could be released
He also told DailyMail.com that he and the team at Wedbush have heard Apple could release one to two more colors. Current rumors are also predicting new colors
Ives also told DailyMail.com that he and the team at Wedbush have heard Apple could release one to two more colors.
This has been one of the latest rumors swirling the web, which have suggested four fresh possible shades.
Mock-ups were shared by 9to5Mac, which reports on Apple updates and discovered rumors of the new colors in a recent post on Weibo.
The crimson shade is believed to be lighter than the deep purple launched with the iPhone 14 but is still ‘very deep.’
And light green was released with the iPhone 13 lineup, but the upcoming shade could be darker – closer to a mint color.
The pink shade is a deeper pink described as ‘telemagent,’ and the light blue is ‘picton blue.’
However, the ‘exclusive’ dark red color will only be available for the iPhone 15 Pro and mint green for the flagship and iPhone 15 Plus smartphones.
According to 9to5Mac’s source, the information on the color options is ‘still early’ and ‘could change’ closer to the fall, so the colors shared could be off.
Apple tests multiple colors of new iPhone models before they are released, and if Ives is right, only one or two will make it to the assembly line.
More power and battery life
Other predictions include the iPhone 15 getting a 15 percent increase in power due to what Ives believes is an upgraded M2 chip.
Apple announced the M2 Pro and Max in January, which power its MacBooks and iPads.
But Ives believes the powerful chips will be redesigned for the iPhone 15.
This would deliver more CPU and memory, and storage to the smartphone.
Ives is also predicting a larger battery, which has been an ongoing belief.
An alleged Foxconn worker, the company that manufactures a bulk of Apple’s iPhones, told ItHome today that the iPhone 15 family is set to have larger batteries.
The iPhone 15 will feature an 18 percent larger battery, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro a 14 percent larger battery, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max a 12 percent larger battery.
This means the iPhone 15 could have a 3877mAh capacity, iPhone 15 Plus 4912mAh, iPhone 15 Pro 3650mAh and iPhone 15 Pro Max could have 4852mAh.
‘We believe there will be more battery power for the iPhone Pro and Max compared to the flagship, said Ives.
The iPhone 15 Pro will be more in demand
Apple experienced a shattering defeat with the iPhone 14 Pro, as customers were not upgrading to the model – forcing the tech giant to halt production.
‘I think [the iPhone 15] is going to be a game changer,’ said Ives.
‘There are 250 million iPhones that have not been upgraded in four years.
‘We believe there are going to be significant discounts and promotions from carriers that will set this up as a min super cycle.’
And Ives believes seven to eight upgrades will be the iPhone 15 Pro.
‘This is going to be the heaviest Pro mix that [Apple] has ever had and that’s a high bar. Given what the Pro mix looked like in 14,’ he said.
‘You’re going to upgrade the Pro. But that’s also why A is for Apple in terms of the iPhone.
‘And We believe we’re going to start approaching $950, which is nearly $100 more than a year ago.’
