Are the Sussexes in Canada? Meghan and Harry wish fans a ‘very happy Thanksgiving’ with a maple leaf

They may be on an official break from royal duties, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still very much engaged on Instagram.

This morning the couple wished their 9.9million followers a ‘very happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours’.

Using their trademark navy blue background with their royal cypher – the entwined initials of H and M below a coronet – they signed off their message: ‘Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ and included a maple leaf emoji in the description.

While this could just be a symbol for the autumnal season, it could hint that the couple have travelled to Canada for the holiday, where Meghan used to live while working as an actress filming the legal drama Suits.

The distinctive, star-shaped red maple leaf is used as an emblem of Canada and features on the country’s flag.

This will be the Sussexes’ first Thanksgiving as a three, after they welcomed their son Archie Mountbatten Windsor in May.

Yesterday we told how sources claim the trio will be marking the American holiday with a low-key affair in Los Angeles with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.

The duchess is reportedly likely to do the cooking, and the down-to-earth family are said to be against having staff present.

Speaking to OK magazine, royal reported Katie Nicholl said: ‘Meghan loves being in the kitchen.

‘She’s a talented chef and takes great pleasure in bringing people together over a family meal.

‘There won’t be any staff helping her – she’ll definitely be wearing the apron’.

However reports vary over where the family will spend Thanksgiving, with some claiming Meghan will cook for the family at Windsor Castle.

An insider told DailyMail.com this month: ‘From what I know, they aren’t coming here [to Los Angeles]. Doria is going there for the holiday [Thanksgiving].’

If the family do take a break in California, Meghan is reportedly likely to do the cooking, as the down-to-earth family opt against having staff present (seen at a previous Thanksgiving dinner)

The consideration of staying in the UK comes after Buckingham Palace confirmed a separate report that the couple will not spend Christmas at Sandringham with the Queen so they can recharge their batteries.

The Thanksgiving post comes a day after the pair shared a stunning unseen photo from their wedding to celebrate two years since they announced the news of their engagement.

Taking to the Sussex Royal Instagram account, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrote: ‘On this day, two years ago: 27th of November 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the news of their engagement, later becoming Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex!

‘They have since celebrated their wedding anniversary and welcomed their son, Archie, into the world.’

In the never-before-seen image, the former Suits actress can be seen beaming in her stunning white bespoke Givenchy gown designed by Clare Waight Keller, as she leans forward and puts her arm around her husband’s waist.

A smiley Prince Harry appears to be looking into the distance as the candid moment is captured on camera.

The couple shared a second image from their official engagement shoot in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, much loved by his late mother Princess Diana.

Back in November 2017, Prince Harry said he was ‘thrilled’ to be marrying Meghan Markle and admitted he knew the Suits star was ‘the one’ from ‘the first day we met’.
