ARIAs: Kylie Minogue, Troye Sivan and G Flip lead the nominations for 2023’s awards

The nominees for the 2023 ARIA Awards were announced on Thursday.

International superstars such as Troye Sivan, Kylie Minogue, and G Flip topped the nomination list alongside some relatively new faces.

Ghanaian-born hip hop artist Genesis Owusu, who calls Canberra home, leads with seven nominations across multiple categories including Album of the Year, Best Hip Hop/Rap Release, and Best Solo Artist.

G Flip, Sivan, and Dom Dolla have cemented themselves among the hottest Australian artists across the international music landscape, and have each garnered six nominations.

G Flip’s new album DRUMMER is the source of their nominations, while Sivan’s nods originate with his raunchy single, Rush.

Coming off a huge year after his collaboration with Nelly Furtado, Eat Your Man, Dom Dolla scored nominations for Best Australia Live Act, Best Solo Artist, Best Produced Release, Best Dance/Electronic Release and more.

They will compete for Best Solo Artist alongside Budjerah, Dan Sultan, Genesis Owusu, Jen Cloher, Kylie Minogue, Meg Mac, and The Kid LAROI.

Announced on the same day of his new single Got Me Started was released, Troye Sivan’s nominations include Best Pop Release, Best Solo Artist, Song of the Year, and Best Dance/Electronic Release.

Australian pop royalty Kylie Minogue has been nominated for Best Independent Release, Best Pop Release, Best Solo Artist, and Song of the Year after releasing her 16th studio album, Tension, which includes the smash hit single Padam Padam.

Aboriginal singer-songwriter Budjerah and rock band DMA’S both scored themselves five nominations. 

Other well-known artists Amy Shark, Brad Cox, Dan Sultan, and Matt Corby were all nominees in three categories.

The 2023 inductee into the ARIA Hall of Fame will be the rock band Jet, known for their 2003 international hit Are You Gonna Be My Girl? 

For the first time in the awards show’s history, the ceremony will be streaming live at 5pm AEDT on Stan on the 15th of November, and will be broadcast on Channel Nine later that evening.
