Arkansas woman gives birth to her own grandson

An Arkansas grandmother has played an slightly unconventional role in the beginning of her grandchild’s life.

Patty Resecker, 50, gave birth to her daughter-in-law’s child, by serving as a surrogate for her son and his wife.

Kayla Jones, 29, wasn’t able to carry her own child because she had a partial hysterectomy due to cysts when she was a teenager.

Patty Resecker, 50, carried her daughter-in-law and son’s baby to term after they couldn’t conceive naturally

When she married Cody Jones and they decided they wanted to have children, they knew they would have to explore other options to bring a child into the world.

That’s where 50-year-old Resecker, Cody’s mother, stepped in to help her son and daughter-in-law.

‘It’s their baby; I was just the valet,’ Resecker said in an interview with InsideEdition.

Despite being menopausal, Resecker thought she would be a good fit after carrying three children of her own.

Resecker was able to receive hormone injections to make carrying the baby viable.

‘I kept seeing Cody and Kayla kind of get sad and think, “What’s our next step?”‘ Resecker explained. ‘I told Cody and Kayla that I would do it if I can.’

The baby, a boy named Kross, was born on December 30, 2017.

‘Mother-in-laws tend to overstep, but Patty is definitely not like that,’  Kayla said.

‘She’s been so great making me feel like he’s mine, even though I didn’t give birth to him.’
