- The Being John Malkovich and Her director reportedly came face to face with the knife man at around 6am on Tuesday in Los Feliz Boulevard, California
- Once officers arrived, the burglar refused to come out and the SWAT team was then called as reinforcement, authorities say
- Following a stand-off, the man reportedly surrendered and was taken to hospital at around 11am – it is not known if that man was injured during the arrest
An intruder wielding a knife barricaded himself inside the home of film director Spike Jonez, sparking a standoff with LAPD and SWAT officers, authorities have said.
Police were called to the California home of the Academy Award winning director and producer, whose real name is Adam Spiegel, at around 6am today.
Once officers arrived, the burglar refused to come out and the SWAT team was then called as reinforcement, authorities say.
It is understood that Spiegel came face to face with the intruder but was able to leave the house and call the police without being harmed.
Following a stand-off, the man reportedly surrendered and was taken to hospital at around 11am – it is not known if that man was injured during the arrest.
