Arne Slot plays down fears that new man Federico Chiesa is injury prone and reveals whether £12.5m Italian winger will be involved for Liverpool against Man United

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has allayed fears that new signing Federico Chiesa is injury-prone and has revealed that the Italian forward will be available for selection for Sunday’s huge Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Reds landed their first signing of the summer, snapping up the 26-year-old from Juventus for an initial bargain of £10million, which could increase to £12.5m with add-ons.

Some fairs have arisen over the 2021 European Championship winner’s injury track record, with Ciesa having sustained an ACL injury back in 2022 which ruled him out for an extended period.

But Slot is confident that Liverpool’s expert medical staff and head of performance Ruben Peeters are specialists in injury prevention and played down any worries.

‘It would not be the first time the English media overexaggerate!’ the Dutchman said when pressed on whether Chiesa’s injury history is overstated.

‘He did his ACL but the rest were not big injuries. We trust our performance staff and he is one of four wingers we have.’
