Arsenal fans look away! Dusan Vlahovic scores 31 SECONDS into Champions League debut for Juventus… as Serb sets competition record for the fastest ever goal

  • Dusan Vlahovic scored 31 seconds into his Champions League debut on Tuesday
  • The Serb gave Juventus the lead in first minute of their last-16 tie with Villareal
  • In doing so, he sets the competition record for the fastest ever goal scored
  • Vlahovic was known to be on Arsenal’s radar prior to joining the Turin club

Dusan Vlahovic scored 31 seconds into his Champions League debut on Tuesday night, as he gave Juventus the lead in their last-16 tie against Villareal.

The former Fiorentina striker was a transfer target for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal throughout the January window, as the Gunners looked to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, the North London club failed to secure their man – which looks like it could come back to haunt them should the Serb keep up his inspirational form.

The Juventus No. 7, who inherited the shirt number from Cristiano Ronaldo, gave Massimiliano Allegri’s side the lead in the first minute of their game against Villareal.

Vlahovic received a ball over the top of the Spanish defence, chested it down neatly, before firing a shot with his weaker right foot across goal and into the bottom corner.

His finish was trademark for any top striker – and earned the Serb the record for the fastest goal ever scored in the competition.

This comes just a few weeks after the 22-year-old scored 13 minutes into his league debut, during Juventus’ league win against Hellas Verona.

Not only is the fastest scorer in the competition, but also the fastest scorer in a game involving Juventus, a title previously held by Borussia Dortmund’s Andy Möller back in 1995.

The Serb joined The Old Lady in the January transfer window for €70 million, having scored an impressive 44 goals in 98 Serie A appearances during his time with Fiorentina.

The 22-year-old had big expectations to live up to, but looks to have hit the ground running after scoring on his league debut and now his Champions League debut.
