The article goes on to claim the 52-year-old tried and failed to turn off a security camera, resulting in the attack being broadcast live to the owner.

He is said to have caused hundreds of pounds’ worth of damage with the chainsaw.

Police were then called to Lehmann’s property and are now investigating whether the former Germany star is culpable for three more cases of vandalism worth more than £8,500.

It is believed the former 61-cap international has had a poor relationship with his neighbours for a long time, and reported them for ‘property damage and coercion’, believing the new garage is on his land.

Lehmann has lived by the picturesque Lake Starnberg in Bavaria for the last 15 years after buying his current property for £4.2million whilst with the Gunners, where he played exactly 200 times in all competitions and was No 1 in their Invincibles season.

He was sacked from Hertha Berlin’s board last year after a racist WhatsApp message appeared online, after which he apologised publicly, tweeting: ‘In a private message from my cell phone to Dennis Aogo, an impression was created for which I apologised in conversation with Dennis.

‘As a former national player he is very knowledgeable and has a great presence and brings odds at Sky.’

Sportsmail have reached out to Lehmann for comment.
