Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is in Germany and began his medical this morning ahead of his loan move to Hertha Berlin.

The out of favour 21-year-old has become surplus to requirements under Mikel Arteta this season after questions were raised over his attitude. He arrived from Lorient in 2018 for £8million.

Lucas Torreira also had his medical with Atletico Madrid over the weekend, meanwhile, and is waiting for the club to sell players before his loan can be ratified.

It is expected the deal will also include an option to make the deal permanent for £22m.

Torreira’s representative Pablo Betancur held positive talks with Atletico earlier this week and Arsenal sporting director Edu is keen to help push the deal through.

Atletico striker Nikola Kalinic is talking to Verona with the LaLiga club also active on deadline day.
