Arthur Chatto has finished his charity effort and raised £21,059 by rowing 2,000 miles around the UK

The great grandson of Princess Margaret has made his family proud today after finishing an epic effort to raise funds for charity.

Arthur Chatto, 20, was greeted in St Katharine Docks by his family and girlfriend at the close of his 2,000 miles tour of the UK.

The university student had taken off from London Bridge on July 8 in hopes of raising as part of the GB Row Challenge. Thanks to donation, his team racked up £21,059 for The British Read Cross and Just One Ocean.

The GB Row Challenge is a rowing race which happens yearly and see teams competing against each other while raising funds for different charity.

Arthur and his teammates live together, which explains why they were able to compete in the race. They were the only team taking part this year due to the Coronavirus, which prevented others from participating.

Today concluded an epic 38 days-long journey away from home.

Arthur was reunited with his mother, Lady Sarah Chatto, his father Lord Daniel and brother Samuel, 24.

His girlfriend Lizzie, who was wearing a white mask, was also waiting for him at the dock.

Team EXE ENDUROW took on the race in their stride in spite of being the only ones to compete.

The University of Exeter students lived together and were allowed to take measures in order to keep training in preparation of the race, which had been six months in the making for them.

Posting on their official Exeendurow Instagram in June, they commented: ‘We hope you all have stayed safe during the Corona Virus pandemic.

‘We are still planning to row around the UK notwithstanding a change in the COVID conditions.

‘Naturally, we’ve been delayed but are working hard to get ourselves ready to row.

‘We’ve also decided, as a result of the situation, to raise money for the British Red Cross as well as JustOneOcean, because we’re keen to do what we can at what is a challenging time for our nation as well as our oceans.’

The royal had been training for the row for the last six months, and first shared a snap as weight-lifting in the gym in order to get his fitness up in January.

The team, which consists of Arthur alongside Charles Bromhead, Harry Lidgley, Oliver Dawe-Lane, had originally intended to raise the funds for Just One Ocean but said the coronavirus pandemic had inspired them to help the British Red Cross as well.

While he delights his fan by sharing training pictures on Instagram which offer a peek at his impressive physique, Arthur is in a committed relationship with his girlfriend Lizzie Friend.

Lizzie is a fellow Edinburgh University student, where Arthur is studying Geography, and a source previously told the Daily Mail: ‘They hit it off straight away.

‘She’s really sweet and they make a very nice couple. He took her to Royal Ascot this summer as his date.’

While Arthur is still best known for his lineage as the grandson of the Queen’s late sister Princess Margaret, he is quickly gaining a loyal online following thanks to his very cheeky Instagram snaps.

Far from the official photographs that we are used to seeing from royals, Arthur’s Instagram account gives a rare glimpse into his everyday life – and the teen has no problem sharing revealing snaps.

After attending Westminster Cathedral Choir school he followed in the footsteps of William and Harry at £33,270-a-year Eton.

At Eton he was in its Combined Cadet Force, which teaches pupils various military skills. It echoes the trajectory of Prince Harry, who also joined the CCF at Eton before enrolling in the Armed Forces.

He followed his older brother Sam and now attends Edinburgh University, where he studies Geography.

Princess Margaret’s grandson is also a fan of outdoor sports including Arctic diving and mountain climbing.
