An Australian artist has catapulted herself into the spotlight by applying to play the role of the Duchess of Cambridge on hit show The Crown.

Painter Brittany Dixon, who lives on the Gold Coast, Queensland, wowed her followers on TikTok with a video showing just how uncanny her resemblance to mum-of-three Kate Middleton is.  

‘So I did end up applying,’ she said. ‘They just wanted a selfie, some general information and a 30 second video of me talking about something I love. Obviously I talked about painting.

‘So we’ll see how it goes, if they even see it. Anyway, thanks guys for being so nice. Back to painting.’

It comes following reports that Netflix producers are on the hunt for an actress who can play a young Kate in the sixth season of the historical drama.

‘I was not expecting that video to get that much attention,’ Brittany said in a different video.

In an interview with the Today Show’s Karl and Ally on Monday, she said: ‘It’s been a few years people have been telling me I look like her. I would just brush it off but it’s really sort of amusing lately how many times I’ve heard it.

‘I love it because she is somebody I admire so of course I’m going to be flattered. It’s awesome.’

‘This is a good role in this award-winning drama and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance. Please see photographs for reference.

‘Shooting will commence late August 2022 in the UK.

‘No previous professional acting experience required. We are very experienced in providing a great deal of support for the young actors and their families thought what they find is a uniquely rewarding creative process.’

Producers are also looking for an actor to take on the roles of Prince William and Prince Harry.

‘Hey honey! Wishing you all the best. Your demeanour is so beautifully elegant like Kate too. I really hope you get it. Good luck we’re rooting for you,’ said another.

A third added: ‘No more painting I’m sorry, you need to fly over to the UK and help out in the palace’.
