Ashley Judd reveals her dog has died

Ashley Judd’s dog has passed away.

The 49-year-old Berlin Station actress revealed the news in People magazine on Wednesday when she said she recently had a calm moment a few days ago when her dog ‘was getting ready to go to heaven.’ But the Double Jeopardy star said she felt like everything was ‘going to be okay.’ 

Ashley has several animals. One of them is a dog named Shug, 17, that is a psychological support animal helping her cope with depression.

Judd told the magazine that she felt ‘bliss’ on her back porch recently.

‘There was nothing going on,’ she said.

‘My dog was getting ready to go to heaven, so it’s not like the circumstances were optimal, and yet I had that bliss – just knowing that everything is really okay.’

It is not known if the dog that died was Shug or another canine. 

Judd has spoken of her dog often.

In 2012 she talked to ABC News’ Dan Harris and Erin Brady about how the animal helped her. 

She said he ‘adds to quality of life.’

The Kills The Girls actress also added in 2006 it was suggested to her she get help.

‘What I said was, “I’m so tired of holding up all this pain, I’m so glad to come to treatment,”‘ she said. She got 42 days of help.

She revealed in her 2011 book All That Is Bitter And Sweet she was suffering from depression after experiencing abuse and loneliness as a child.

Ashley was left at home while her mom Naomi Judd and sister Wynona Judd would tour. 

‘God saved me from being angry and it impairs my ability to be of service to another human being,’ she told Nightline.

In 2010, she graduated from Harvard with a degree in public administration and she spends a lot of time working on charity.
