Aston Villa are confident about tying down Jack Grealish to a new contract this summer that would take his salary above £150,000-a-week, according to reports.
The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Villa Park this summer after a stunning season for Dean Smith’s side that earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020.
Sportsmail revealed last week that Manchester City want to break the British transfer record for Grealish this summer and are confident in securing a £100million deal for the midfielder.

The 25-year-old has been the subject of interest from Manchester City in a £100m approach
But according to the Telegraph, Villa are serious about keeping their player and want to extend Grealish’s contract by one year and will increase his wage packet to do so.
Grealish has been at Villa since the age of six and has risen through the ranks to surpass 200 first-team appearances for the club and become the club’s captain.
Last season was arguably the midfielder’s best season in the claret and blue of Villa, scoring six goals and registering 12 assists – despite missing a third of the Premier League season due to a shin injury.
Villa have looked to bolster their attacking midfield options this summer by bringing in £40m Argentine Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City and have had two approaches knocked back for Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe.
Dean Smith’s side have reportedly revealed no desire to sell the star midfielder this summer
The 25-year-old has taken his Villa form into England’s Euro 2020 campaign and has played a starring role in the Three Lions’ two recent displays.
Grealish set up Raheem Sterling’s winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Czech Republic – his first start at the tournament – while he came off the bench to make a real impact in England’s historic 2-0 last-16 win over Germany at Wembley.
The second-half substitute played a key role in the build-up to Sterling’s opener against the Germans, while he laid on the the assist for Harry Kane’s first goal of the tournament to seal the victory for Southgate’s side.

Should Grealish shun a new deal at Villa and move to Pep Guardiola’s City, he could link up with both Sterling and Kane in the blue half of Manchester.
Sterling is currently a key part of the Premier League champions’ squad and City want to tie him down to a new contract, as revealed by Sportsmail this week.
Meanwhile, City are wanting to add Premier League Golden Boot winner and top assister from last season Kane to their ranks, and have already bid £100million for the forward this summer.
