Atomic Beer closes: Redfern brewery bites the dust

Another popular Australian brewery has called last drinks for good.

Atomic Beer in Redfern, in Sydney’s inner-west, announced on the weekend that its decision to shut its doors permanently on Sunday was made with a ‘heavy heart’.

The business had been operating as a brewery as well as a tap room since it first opened in 2020.

The pub took to social media to announce its sudden closure and invite patrons for a final round of beers on Father’s Day.

‘It has been an incredible few years, and we cannot express how truly amazing it has been to be part of this community,’ it said.

‘We’ve had some wild times, and we can’t thank you all enough for being part of the Atomic story.

‘It’s been a pleasure Redfern, join us for a final froth and a nod to the good times.’

The sad news was also confirmed on the brewery’s website.

‘Thanks for your support over the last few years and for bringing the excellent vibes to Redfern with us!’ the said.

‘We hope to get a chance to serve you again in the future!’

Shocked supporters were quick to show their love for their favourite watering hole and express heartbreak about the closure.

‘Best bar in Sydney,’ one wrote.

Another added: ‘Very very sad to hear this’.

A third commented: ‘A massive loss for Sydney. Atomic had the best beers and food and so much personality!

Another who asked if they’ll be creating beer from elsewhere but was left disappointed by the response.

‘Afraid not sorry, there will not be any more Atomic beer produced,’ Atomic Beer replied.

The closure of the venue also means Atomic Beer will still stop producing its drinks (pictured Atomic Beer slabs of pale ale)

The venue is one of many brewers who have recently collapsed due to the economy and high inflation, including Billson’s Brewery who started 160 years ago.

The couple who ran Billson’s, Nathan and Felicity Cowan, also blamed high government excise tax on spirits.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Atomic Beer for comment.
